US to review pre-war intelligence on Iraqi weapons
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N26486931.htm

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Jan 26 (Reuters) - The White House on Monday pledged to review pre-war intelligence that pointed toward the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq after the top U.S. weapons hunter concluded Iraq had no stockpiles of biological and chemical weapons.

"We want to compare the intelligence before the war with what the Iraq Survey Group learns on the ground. Their mission is ongoing, their work is ongoing," said White House spokesman Scott McClellan, referring to the team of experts looking for evidence of unconventional weapons and weapons programs in Iraq.

But regardless of what weapons searchers discover or not in Iraq, the Bush administration stands by its decision to go to war against Iraq, McClellan told reporters accompanying President George W. Bush on a day trip to Little Rock.

"The decision that we made was the right decision and what we know today only reconfirms that it was the right decision," McClellan said.

1. He keeps using that word: "Reconfirms"...
I do not think that word means what he thinks it means...

2. I don't want the WH to review the pre-war intelligence
nor do I want the CIA to review it. I want an independent invesitgation. More lies from the liars.

3. No WMD, no ties to al-Qaeda, no imminent threat
And this means "The decision that we made was the right decision and what we know today only reconfirms that it was the right decision."

Um <scratching my head>... HUH???

4. Unfortunately, the report probably won't be ready until mid-November.
I love this line-

"what we know today only reconfirms that it was the right decision"

What a self-serving non-answer. What they "knew" a year ago was worthless; what's changed?

5. They may believe it was right....
And they are certainly free to think and hold that position. The difference is that they MISLEAD and LIED to congress and the public to support thier position by manipulating intelligence data.

They gain support for thier position by means of deception.

There is NO DIFFERENCE between what the Bush administration did with intelligence data and what Enron did with accounting data in the eyes of the law.

If they manipulated Iraq WMD intelligence data it stands to reason that they are also manipulation other intelligence data as well. Data that may have prevented 911.

They may be manipulationg economic data to bolster the perception that wreckless tax cuts are actually helping the economy.

10. "Their mission is ongoing, their work is ongoing,"
This is apparently another Whopper by McCellan. One of the main reasons Kay quit is because the US disbanded the Iraq Survey Group over a month ago. They are no longer on the ground learning anything. And their mission is not ongoing.

11. A pledge….then a recant….
White House on Monday pledged to review pre-war intelligence that pointed toward the presence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq

"You're getting ahead of yourself. It's premature at this point. The first step is to let the Iraq survey group complete their work,"

it’s all a catch 22…..WMD will never be found, hence, the ISG will never be able to complete it’s work, hence, an uncompleted step 1 naturally can’t lead into the review process of step 2…..

12. We've reviewed ourselves and it turns out we were right
"The decision that we made was the right decision and what we know today only reconfirms that it was the right decision," McClellan said.

13. Fox, henhouse, etc, etc.
"The decision that we made was the right decision and what we know today only reconfirms that it was the right decision," McClellan said.

"And we will make darn sure we don't turn up any information that doesn't fit into this picture," he thought.

I am beginning to think you can fool enough of the people all of the time - or at least long enough to get elected.
