The Ear Thing, and Why I think the Old Rush will soon be gone...
Seeing as how Oxy's come in 20, 40, and 80 mg pills, which equals 4, 8, and 16 regular Percocets (in terms of drug content but with NO tylenol or other crap), most of you have no idea what you're speaking of here. This is NOTHING like taking 8.5 generic vicodins. OC is straight up pure "cancer-patient-just-waiting-to-go" opiate bliss. The shit is pure dope. It can crushed and sniffed, crushed and eaten, put up your backside, or even shot up, apparently. If he were talking all 80's, it'd be the equivalent of 8.5*16=136 Percs a day. This would be much like a 'gram a day' heroin habit in overall effect.
OC's are just a whole different ballgame than the stuff 95% of America associates with 'pain pills'. They are concentrated (an 80 is no bigger than an advil) little troublemakers from hell, that can put into your body in quantities only limited by your tolerance. Which comes QUICK - in fact, many people take that many 80's when they are real addicts. BTW, taking this amount, if left untreated, would kill an opiate-naive person within 2 hours. Yet a junkie not only does fine on it, he needs close to this amount each day just to feel a little better than 'normal'.
If he were to 'quit' a habit like that cold turkey, it would have gone through "The TRAINSPOTTING Experience", if you catch my drift. Nobody would put themselves through that on purpose. I guarantee Rush would not have been able to handle it, and would have gone the easier route of 'managed withdrawal'. This I bet is going on to this day. He's probably did the rapid detox (again), was medicated for the 30 days, then came out with a script of Bupe or m-Done's. He would have to in order to still be functioning. You cannot come back that fast from a longtime habit at anywhere near that level of dope.
If he'd have gone 'turkey off that dose of Oxy, he would've come out SO humbled and drained, he would've had to call in sick at least another month, which he never did. It would have been awhile before he could've been "rush" again (he may yet still not even be rush anymore if he truly gets sober...)
Why? Well, if you spent YEARS, all high off your ass, doing an act like 'Radio rush', then keep alive that destructive persona (that you portray as 'yourself' like Rush does) AFTER you get clean? Good LUCK keeping clean. Sobriety demands RIGOROUS honesty in all ones affairs. Simply put, I believe he WILL end up dead if he continues to perform as "Rush Limbaugh". Not only because you have to change your life in order to get sober, but beause lying is too big a part of who that "Rush" is.
IF the police and his doc decided to make his life (too) easy, they'd put him on a short leash - they'd have put him on a tapering program with weekly-lowering doses of OC. Which is REAL hard for a real addict to do. There's an unfortunate chance he would 'blow it' (due to the 'pain' - real or imagined, or dopesickness, perhaps a day when he's cut back a little too much) eventually. If he retains any access to 'more' drugs beyond what they have him on, he may be powerless to stop himself. And seeing as how you could never put it past a rich prick like Rush to 'work it', esp. in Jeb's FLA, I'd say he retains 'access'. Money and fame can get you pretty far in the whole 'drub procuring' world... Good chance lardass would blow it, trust me. Out of arrogance, partly, but also because the sickness is STRONG with OC. Very strong.
One way or another, it's likely that Rush the lying bloviator IS going to be GOING AWAY. I bet that character is mostly a creation of the drugs. Rush (the man) will either exorcise the evil Rush and hence stop doing this act, or the evil Radio Rush will take win out, who eventually will take Rush (the man) OUT.
Lastly, about the damn EAR thing? There is NO PROOF, I repeat, NO PROOF that opiates cause damage to the ears. They may decrease hearing while in use, due to their numbing qualities, but they DO NOT damage ears or hearing. If OC damaged hearing, every junkie on the street would be deaf. Yet they are not. There was a scare that Vicodin could hurt your ears, never proven. If Vicodin caused this problem, I'd bet it's really the APAP, not the hydrocodone. OC DOES NOT CAUSE EAR TROUBLE, period.
Actually, opiates are generally totally harmless to your body of themselves. They are just artificial dopamine. There is no safer drug in the world than an opiate, when used as directed. It's the addiction and lifestyle that kill ya!
