HARTFORD -- It's now official. The Connecticut House of Representatives yesterday impaneled the state's first impeachment committee to investigate the actions of a sitting governor.

A grim and quiet House met in an afternoon special session and unanimously passed a resolution creating the bipartisan Select Committee on Inquiry to investigate ethics charges swirling around Republican Gov. John Rowland.

The committee will investigate gifts to Rowland from politically connected friends, subordinates and state contractors in the form of improvements to his summer cottage in Bantam that Rowland has admitted lying about.

The committee will decide whether to forward the action to the House, which will decide whether Rowland should be impeached.

1. Rowland doesn't seem too concerned
He feels this is media driven. People want him impeached or to resign just so we don't have to see it on the news all the time! This is his position. I, personally, am insulted by this. But I guess he does have reason to believe the people of CT are stupid and shallow, afterall, he was elected gov. 3 times.

His big plan to clear his name is to save a puppy from death row.

2. Poll numbers in the gutter
so why isn't this plastered across the national media like Davis's were? Oh that's right, he's a rethug. Looks like he's going down only to be replaced by a more moderate and likeable repub. Whats that about the puppy?

3. Prediction: Rowland will resign before impeachment trial.
Rowland is in denial right now. If the CT house votes for impeachment he will realize the jig is up and he will resign.
