Bush Defends War Decision With Iraq (Ashcroft stunner)
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/us_iraq_weapons

WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) on Tuesday vigorously defended his decision to go to war against Iraq (news - web sites) despite chief inspector David Kay's conclusion that Saddam Hussein (news - web sites) did not have weapons of mass destruction, as the United States had believed

"There is no doubt in my mind that Saddam Hussein was a gathering threat to America and others. That's what we know," Bush said.

"We know he was a dangerous man in a dangerous part of the world," the president said.

Attorney General John Ashcroft (news - web sites), traveling in Vienna, Austria, said the Iraq war was justified, even if banned weapons are never found, because it eliminated the threat that Saddam might again resort to "evil chemistry and evil biology."

6. Ayn Rand's Anthem
described the type of scenario that is a very possible outcome of the return to the demonic perspective championed by the Bush cabal. I know there are people here who really don't like Rand a bit, but she described the type of person AshKKKroft is to a tee.

7. Hey, Iraq had "weapons of mass destruction-related program activities."
WMD related program activities is penlty enough reason to bomb the crap out of any country, according to the chimp in the SOTU speech. I'm not sure what WMD related program activities mean, but then again I'm a democrat and not part of the radical right.

21. Exactly...
You want to talk grave and gathering threat to the world (besides us)there are a bunch of countries that would have placed ahead of Iraq which was subdued, cowed, trapped, inspected, flown over, surrounded, starved, sanctioned, bombed etc for the ten years preceeding the invasion. So he had to trump up and invent bogus evidence about the grave danger they presented. Why no one bothers to confront our Chimp in Chief with this fact is a travesty.

And wouldn't you like to hear him try to explain how the Iraqi's are better off without Saddam when they have been bombed unmercifully, are still without reliable electricity and sewer, glowing with radioactivity, and on the brink of all out civil war as the US plans to "bug out" in July.

Coming to Du is like a breath of fresh air. I reread this story and found it has even doublespeak to some effect When was last time you heard of a Humanitarian War,sounds like Jumbo shrimp to me. whoever invented the word oxymoron was a genius.

http://antiwar.com/orig/suri.php?articleid=1788

Rights Group: Iraq War Was 'Not Humanitarian'
by Sanjay Suri

The invasion of Iraq was no humanitarian intervention, Human Rights Watch says in its annual report released in London Monday.
(snip)
(snip)
Roth said HRW does not have a pacifist position against war. "Our role in such a situation would be to monitor the positions of both sides."

Roth said HRW had at times even supported military intervention, as in Rwanda and in Bosnia. "Humanitarian intervention, by which we mean military intervention, is coming to the fore," he said. "This would mean an armed force crossing borders to save lives." But the intervention in Iraq did not meet minimum criteria for such intervention, Roth said.
(snip)

So by this thinking it is okay to launch a preemptive war for "Humanitarian intervention" if you dot the "I's" and cross the "T's". So what the heck does the Human stand for in Humanitarian anyway?

(last question) Is Evil a word for GOP members with vocabulary deficits or just the ones that are linguistically challenged?

* should also thank god for mail-in-diplomas at Yale, our country would be lost without them.

19. Bush reasoning:
1. 9/11 - ooops no connection. "We have no evidence of that".

2. WMD - David Kay says "none".

3. Democracy - Bush tries to thwart real elections.

Now Ashcroft says Hussein might have again resorted to "evil biology".

Pathetic.

20. Classic paranoid delusional thinking --
the paranoid will never let go his premise. Always readjusts his rationale to fit the facts. Used to be a great story concerning a paranoid who claimed that he was dead. The doctors tried all sorts of reasoning to convince him he was not dead. Finally they got him to agree that dead men don't bleed. Then they cut him and of course he bled. Without skipping a beat he announced that he was wrong -- dead men do bleed.

This is the kind of circular mind game Bush is doing to confuse -- give no evidence that Hussein was a gathering threat -- just says it over and over regardless of the facts on the ground. It's bogeyman reasoning. There is no argument that would ever convince Bush that Hussein was not a threat -- because in Bush speak Hussein is by definition a threat. How do you prove the negative?

22. I don't think so. I think they know he wasn't a threat but can't
afford to admit that. Evil chemistry and biology for crying out loud? That is just pathetic! Even they are not that stupid. The whole purpose of the Iraq war was oil and global dominance. WMD's were never a threat.
