McCain praises Clinton’s campaign
Source: CNN

NASHVILLE, Tennessee (CNN) – During a town hall meeting on Monday afternoon in the historical home of the Grand Ole Opry, John McCain attacked Barack Obama on no less than six different topics, ranging from the Illinois senator’s single visit to Iraq in early 2006 to not supporting the nominations of Supreme Court justices John Roberts and Samuel Alito.

However, McCain had nothing but kind words for Hillary Clinton whose candidacy has been declared all but dead.

“I have known Senator Clinton, I admire her and I respect her,” said McCain in response to a questioner who noted that Clinton is still in the race. “She has inspired generations of American women to believe that they can reach the highest office in this nation.”

“I admire the campaign that she has run, she deserves a great deal of credit,” he added. “A few of us who have been around politics for a while learned a lesson way back in 1992 that you better never count a Clinton out of any race.”

3. And if the tables were turned, you could subsitute Obama here for Clinton's name in that article
If the tables were turned, and Obama was on his way out, McBush would say the same thing about Obama.

Just divide and conquer tactics, that's all.

6. probably, but the fact that Clinton ran such a divisive campaign, especially
when she said she and mccain were qualified to be president, but Obama was just a speech, makes her attackable

As far as I know, Obama never suggested a republican candidate was more qualified as Clinton

11. she did not run a divisive campaign any more than Obama did
for you to keep quoting that talking point as if fact does not make it true.

Don't you see what McCain is doing? He is trying to reach out to those disenchanted Clinton supporters.

15. Oh she didn't praise McCain while dissing Obama?
And THAT wasn't a divisive statement?

I guess my ears were fooling me! :sarcasm:

17. Are you kidding me?
She was running a campaign against Obama. I do not understand you people. Obama could diss Clinton every chance he got--and you all cheered. Obama could praise Nixon, while attaking the Clinton legacy and you all cheered. One mention of McCain (and the FACT that he has foreign policy experience) and you shit a brick.

ohmygod you are all off your rockers.

10. Maybe he could pay somebody to endorse Obama.
Maybe Obama could pay somebody to endorse McCain? Hmmm.

It's not so much divide and rule as mud-slinging though.

4. and why not, she said she and mccain were qualified to be president, and Obama wasn't
Thank-you clinton campaign, this primary has brought out your true colors

You have used the race card, the Muslim card, the preacher card, and the sexism card which has resulted in the most divisive primary that I can remember

We don't need the republicans to attack us, you have been quite adequate

5. If B praises A, it doesn't mean A and B share the same views
See Hamas praising Obama and wishing that he win the elections. It does not mean Obama agrees with that group.

9. Same deal, Yah.
It's a perverse world when being praised by anybody means you are a bad person. Guilt by association, is what it is.
