Iraq at odds with US over troops presence beyond 2008
Source: AFP

The Iraqi government Tuesday said it had a "different vision" from the US over the deployment of American troops in the country beyond 2008 and vowed not to compromise national sovereignty.

Government spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said the cabinet discussed the proposed Status of Forces Agreement which is scheduled to be concluded by next month and agreed that Iraq's national interests must be protected.

"A joint vision on this issue is yet to be achieved between the two sides, and ... the Iraqi side has a different vision, and it will not undercut or be negligent towards Iraqis' rights and sovereignty," Dabbagh said.

2. I think they are waiting for Bush to leave.
Maybe the withdrawal will happen sooner and faster than we
think once we get a Democrat as Prez.

The problem is the Iraqis are forced to sign an agreement this summer.

They definitely left an important signal with this announcement.

6. Some insane winger called Allan David something was on with Charlie Rose last night
I was flipping channels between periods of the hockey game and happened across Charlie hosting a "debate" between this cretin and a Brit who also believes we have to stay in Iraq. The reason? Wait for it

Because if we leave, that will mean we failed, and if we fail, we can no longer be counted on to be a major force in the ME - basically, we will have lost our superpower status. Mr. Salty was never as good at twisting things as the neocons.

11. How ungrateful can you be?
They want us to leave? After we destroyed their country and their civilization? How ungrateful can you be?

Iraq has remained a sovereign nation. Despite the attempt by this monster who some still refer to as a president, including Nancy Pelosi, to establish Iraq as some sort of territory of the United States.

When the Iraqis tell us to leave and we don't, I suspect you will see the bloodbath Saddam Hussein promised us.
