The United States will strengthen joint war capabilities with South Korea to defeat any possible invasion by North Korea with "overwhelming power," the new head of US forces here said Tuesday.
"As an alliance, we must be prepared to fight and win," General Walter L. Sharp said in a ceremony as he took command of 28,500 US troops here from General Burwell B. Bell.

4. This is to reasssure South Korea as we reduce our troops there
the South Korean military is actually more than capable of taking on North Korea if necessary.
