Anderson illness prompts Yes to cancel tour
Source: CNN

NEW YORK (AP) -- The classic rock band Yes has canceled its 40th anniversary tour following frontman Jon Anderson's severe asthma attack last month.

Jon Anderson is suffering from respiratory problems, prompting Yes to cancel its summer tour.

The 63-year-old singer, who's since been diagnosed with acute respiratory failure, was ordered by doctors last weekend to rest for at least six months "or suffer further health complications," it was announced Wednesday in a statement released by representatives for the band and Live Nation, which was presenting the tour.

That means no hitting the road for Anderson, who was to kick off the band's 26-city summer tour in Quebec on July 12.

"I'd like everyone (to) know how deeply disappointed I am by this turn of events," Anderson said in a statement. "I was looking forward to celebrating our music with the amazing family of Yes fans once again; but as we all know, health must come before anything else."

1. Get well indeed, Jon.
I was fortunate enough to see them twice on their 2003 tour. I left wanting to be Chris Squire. Unfortunately, at one of the shows I was instead crowned Miss So Lame She Can't Even Score Pot At A Yes Concert.

2. Damn, that's too bad.
Jon's voice has held up so well through the years, too.

Get well, Jon!

7. One of my greatest memories was a YES show...
1983, I believe it was, I was 16, it was the 90125 tour. Scored some 'purple pyramid' down at people's park, walked up the Greek with about 5 good friends, all of us big Yes fans. It was an absolutely gorgeous summer night, we were all peaking on what turned out to be amazingly great doses (considering we scored 'em on the street like we did) just as Yes came on ... and it was a friggin AMAZING show. We all rocked out, danced, sang, had a blast.

Ah, the good ol' days...

Best Wishes Jon!!!
