Sheik took possession of ex-Iraqi dictator's body after 2006 execution

TIKRIT, Iraq - The head of Saddam Hussein's tribe was killed in a car bomb blast Tuesday, police said.

Major Hassan Emhimid said a bomb appeared to have been attached to the underside of Sheik Ali al-Nida's vehicle before it exploded in the town of Awja, north of Baghdad.

"Sheik al-Nida was the victim of assassination. When he left his house there was a bomb in his car that killed him and a driver and wounded two of his guards," said Major Ahmed Subhi, head of a counter-terrorism unit in Salahuddin province.

A spokesman for the Salahuddin governor confirmed the sheik had been killed.
