Impeach Bush, Wexler says

U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler signed on today to Articles of Impeachment for President Bush. He called it "a sworn duty" of Congress to act against the president.

"President Bush deliberately created a massive propaganda campaign to sell the war in Iraq to the American people and the charges detailed in this impeachment resolution indicate an unprecedented abuse of executive power," Wexler said in a statement.

"A decision by Congress to pursue impeachment is not an option, it is a sworn duty. It is time for Congress to stand up and defend the Constitution against the blatant violations and illegalities of this Administration. Our Founding Fathers bestowed upon Congress the power of impeachment, and it is now time that we use it to defend the rule of law from this corrupt Administration."

The Democratic congressman represents central and northern Broward.

7. Those little marks around the words in mikelgb's post header are called quotation marks.
I think we can safely say that comment doesn't reflect his own beliefs.

what a bunch of douche bags. Good luck, Rep. Wexler. I hope those idiots don't represent the majority of your voters, because they are some stupid fux.

8. Obama said "No Way" for Impeachment.

http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2007-06-28-obama-impeachment_N.htm?csp=34

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama laid out list of political shortcomings he sees in the Bush administration but said he opposes impeachment for either President George W. Bush or Vice President Dick Cheney.

Obama said he would not back such a move, although he has been distressed by the "loose ethical standards, the secrecy and incompetence" of a "variety of characters" in the administration.

"There's a way to bring an end to those practices, you know: vote the bums out," the presidential candidate said, without naming Bush or Cheney. "That's how our system is designed."

The term for Bush and Cheney ends on Jan. 20, 2009. Bush cannot constitutionally run for a third term, and Cheney has said he will not run to succeed Bush.

Does anyone know if he still holds this wrong view?

13. What's the alternative, putting McCain in office?
I wholeheartedly disagree with Obama on this issue, but I'm not about to "punish" him by not voting for him.

14. MIght they consider another candidate for President who
favors impeachment? The delegate votes aren't writtin in stone. Off the table for impeachment makes him a Republican after all. He's a globalist as I said over and over.

My sister has decided to vote for McCain because she feels immigration is the most important issue. Obama supports amnesty without our vote or support. Crap!

But it is extremely disheartening how many are willing to let criminals walk.

27. No, maybe Cynthia McKinney will get elected....
Maybe the GOP won't run McCain.........he is not making any excitement for the Party......this could change at their Convention.

I'm disenchanted by Obama's "No Impeachment". I believe in cleaning the White House now. No impeachment give permission for the next President to do the same and worse.

15. I think it wise for him to stay clear of that,...
,...until he's elected. Then, well, more options are open especially if the Dems get a greater majority in the Senate.

30. Here's a more in-depth quote:
"'What I would want to do is to have my Justice Department and my Attorney General immediately review the information that's already there and to find out are there inquiries that need to be pursued. I can't prejudge that because we don't have access to all the material right now. I think that you are right, if crimes have been committed, they should be investigated. You're also right that I would not want my first term consumed by what was perceived on the part of Republicans as a partisan witch hunt because I think we've got too many problems we've got to solve. So this is an area where I would want to exercise judgment -- I would want to find out directly from my Attorney General -- having pursued, having looked at what's out there right now -- are there possibilities of genuine crimes as opposed to really bad policies. And I think it's important-- one of the things we've got to figure out in our political culture generally is distinguishing between really dumb policies and policies that rise to the level of criminal activity. You know, I often get questions about impeachment at town hall meetings and I've said that is not something I think would be fruitful to pursue because I think that impeachment is something that should be reserved for exceptional circumstances. Now, if I found out that there were high officials who knowingly, consciously broke existing laws, engaged in coverups of those crimes with knowledge forefront, then I think a basic principle of our Constitution is nobody above the law -- and I think that's roughly how I would look at it.'"

17. GO!! Go, go, go, go, go, go, go.....impeach the SOB...even if you don't finish before he sneaks out
...the back door. At least show that this country did NOT condone this criminal act by this heinous person and his disgusting loyalists.

Start the action...even it if just show the world that we are not taking this lying down.

I don't give a rat's ass if we finish with the proceedings, as long as we show he was deceiving us and brought us into this war under false pretenses.

The country needs this, or we'll be looking at it all over again in the future!!!
