'Bean can grenade' recipe lands man in U.S. custody
Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

A Clearfield County man who gave undercover federal agents explicit instructions on how to make what he called "bean can grenades" has been arrested on weapons charges.

Bradley Kahle, 60, of Troutville, who said the election of Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama would prompt a civil war, is being held pending a detention hearing today in Johnstown.

He is one of four men now charged in separate but related investigations by the U.S. attorney's office related to possible militia activity.

(snip)

"On Aug. 11, 2007, Kahle advises the that shooting judges, magistrates and chiefs of police would start the doomsday process, or words to that effect."

Then, on March 27, according to the affidavit, Mr. Kahle offered to make the grenades at their next meeting, saying that he had five or six M-1000s.

Two weeks after that, the affidavit said, "Kahle said words to the effect of, that 'if Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama get elected, hopefully they will get assassinated. If not they will disarm the country, and we will have a civil war.'"

3. He made 16 of those bombs.
Oopsie.

Bragging about how tought it would be for a SWAT team to take him out isn't illegal. But making 16 IEDs..., yup, that's an arrest.

4. Is it illegal just to make a bomb?
Like if I wanted to make a pipe bomb and watch it blow up out on my own land in a rural area? When I was a kid me and my friends used to make stuff with gunpowder out of shotgun shells ands watch them go off, like fireworks. Is that illegal now?

6. Probably
Barring some kind of permit from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. For example, you might need special storage areas which that guy didn't have. Or it could just be in the interests of public safety you need some kind of training and a license.

On Mythbusters anytime they want to go set off stuff they get a professional and go off to some kind of safe area like a bomb squad test range, an empty quarry, or an abandoned Navy air station.

There's probably some kind of size limit as well. Limits on the amounts you can make something from.

But in a rural area I don't think anybody's going to complain.

17. In Miami we're used to bombers doing their dirty deeds. No worries though they're "freedom fighters"

Bush's base.

http://www.miaminewtimes.com/2000-04-20/news/mullin/full
The following list of violent incidents I compiled from a variety of databases and news sources (a few come from personal experience). It is incomplete, especially in Miami's trademark category of bomb threats. Nor does it include dozens of acts of violence and murder committed by Cuban exiles in other U.S. cities and at least sixteen foreign countries. But completeness isn't the point. The point is to face the truth, no matter how difficult that may be. If Miami's Cuban exiles confront this shameful past -- and resolutely disavow it -- they will go a long way toward easing their neighbors' anxiety about a peaceful future.

1968 From MacArthur Causeway, pediatrician Orlando Bosch fires bazooka at a Polish freighter. (City of Miami later declares "Orlando Bosch Day." Federal agents will jail him in 1988.)

1972 Julio Iglesias, performing at a local nightclub, says he wouldn't mind "singing in front of Cubans." Audience erupts in anger. Singer requires police escort. Most radio stations drop Iglesias from playlists. One that doesn't, Radio Alegre, receives bomb threats.

1974 Exile leader José Elias de la Torriente murdered in his Coral Gables home after failing to carry out a planned invasion of Cuba.

1974 Bomb blast guts the office of Spanish-language magazine Replica.

1982 Bomb discovered at Nicaraguan Consulate.

1982 Miami Mayor Maurice Ferre defends $10,000 grant to exile commando group Alpha 66 by noting that the organization "has never been accused of terrorist activities inside the United States."

18. Militia probe began at 'flamethrower party,' agent says
Edited on Wed Jun-11-08 02:04 PM by RamboLiberal
A Clarion County man accused of crafting exploding golf balls and a host of other weapons will stay jailed after a federal magistrate deemed him a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Marvin E. Hall, of Rimersberg, is accused of possession of a firearm by a felon and transfer of an unregistered firearm, both on Jan. 11. He was arrested Sunday in a raid during which federal agents seized a laundry list of ammunition, explosives and firearms from his home.

FBI agents and the Pennsylvania State Police had been investigating Mr. Hall since 2005, when undercover agents met him at a "flamethrower party," a gathering for neighbors, gun owners and aspiring militia members in Clarion County, special agent Daniel Yocca told U.S. Magistrate Judge Amy Reynolds Hay. The FBI launched its probe of Mr. Hall and three other men to "target militias and individuals in militias who have a propensity toward violence." Mr. Hall told undercover agents he was not part of such a group, but if need be he would associate himself with a group called the 91st Warrior, Mr. Yocca said.

During the investigation, Mr. Yocca said, Mr. Hall offered an undercover officer a CD detailing how to turn an AK-47 into a fully automatic weapon; gave the agent two home-made plastic golf balls filled with exploding powder for use as miniature grenades; and told an officer that he continued to manufacture grenade launchers in a hidden-away machine shop.

Seems to be quite a few of these nutcases up in this section of PA. There was another guy they busted for illegal machine guns and I've read of militia/white racist meetings up in that area.
