GOP likely to attack Michelle Obama in election fight
Source: CNN.COM

Sen. Barack Obama is bracing for the general election fight, and Republicans are likely to throw some jabs at his wife Michelle Obama as well.

Republicans view the presumptive Democratic nominee's wife as a target of opportunity.

<snip>
In May, the Tennessee Republican Party used video of Michelle Obama's comments in a TV ad that aired during one of her husband's campaign stops in the state.

The ad features Tennesseans saying why they are proud of America while repeatedly cutting to Michelle Obama's comments.

The Obama campaign called the ad "shameful."

And everyone thought the attacks on Kerry were sleazy? This election will show how slimy Republicans really are.

"Hillary" Ms. Obama. That's the only way they know how to treat wives who are not content to blend into the background, stay quiet, smoke cigarettes and have one cosmetic surgery after another.

Cindy was wrong to date McCain while he was still married to a woman who not only remained faithful to him during his years as a POW but also had to undergo several operations because of a tragic auto accident.

6. It some ways, it's kind of funny. Republicans are assuming
the Democrats are "business as usual" this year, spines checked at the door and all that. For starters, we've got a candidate who forcefully rebuts things immediately. Secondly, the left wing blogosphere will not be shy about returning fire. Personally, I think going after spouses is disgusting, but if it takes talking about Cindy McCain's drug history endlessly to keep McBush from winning the White House, I'm all for it.

uhh.... just like Howard Dean's wife is Jewish. I can't be the only one who remembers that that was a smear to stop crazy people from voting for Dean.

Republicans are sleaze balls, so of course they'll say any shit they'd like about a candidate's spouse. Nothing is too low for them.

34. And she's likely to give them as good as she gets.
She can fist-jab them. ;-)

I hope she does come back at them, and that the electorate gets disgusted with the attacks on the candidate's spouse.

On the other hand, if the electorate doesn't mind attacks on a candidate's spouse, Cindy McCain could prove far more vulnerable than Michelle Obama.
