Rezko: Feds pushed for dirt on Obama
Source: Politico.com

Imprisoned Chicago businessman Antoin “Tony” Rezko has accused federal prosecutors of improperly pressuring him to implicate Barack Obama in a corruption case.

In a letter to the U.S. District judge who presided over his trial, Rezko, who was convicted this month of 16 corruption-related counts including fraud and money laundering, called prosecutors “overzealous.” And he singled out what he said were their efforts to get him to turn on Obama, an Illinois Senator and the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, and Illinois Gov. Rod Bagojevich.

“They are pressuring me to tell them the ‘wrong’ things that I supposedly know about Governor Bagojevich and Senator Obama,” Rezko wrote in an undated letter released by the court this week. “I have never been party to any wrongdoing that involved the Governor or the Senator. I will never fabricate lies about anyone else for selfish purposes. I will take what comes my way, but I will never hurt innocent people.”

Randall Samborn, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s office in Chicago, wouldn't comment on Rezko's allegation.

I hope there's no dirt to uncover on Obama-Rezko. 'Cause if there is, it will come up by November. OY.

4. Relevance????
Everyone imprisoned (convicted) chats about "improper pressure??" Rezko is a felon and will be used by the grand old party against Obama. To me (a wacky democrat who has voted straight party line since 1980) that is a reflection on the gop, not you and me.

7. Relevance is that
the Bush Justice Department is apparently trying to gin up dirt on Obama. Obviously Rezko is not an entirely reliable source, but he is only confirming what we already knew.

6. he`s looking for a lighter sentence
the feds would have asked him about obama and bagojevich because he did contribute to their campaigns.

bagojevich is history in illinois and the sooner the better.

9. Shades of Ken Starr
This is nothing new.

Ken Starr did it with Susan McDougal and Bush appointees have been doing it for years.

12. If you have no policy, no solutions to problems,
no plan other than more of the same, you dig for dirt and throw as much crap against that wall and see what sticks. So far and as hard as they have tried nothing seems to be sticking to nominee and future President Obama. I sure hope McSame's crew thinks real hard about going down that road, it might not be too smart of an idea for their candidate.

13. I would not believe anything Rezko says!
Gov. Blagojevich is as corrupt as his Republican predecessor George Ryan, but Obama is clean and Rezko is just attempting to appeal for sympathy.

24. Patrick Fitzgerald convicted Illinois Republican Governor
George Ryan who had been Bush's Illinois campaign manager in 2000. Fitzgerald also convicted Scooter Libby. Sure, Fitzgerald has convicted a few of Ritchie Daley's pals, but, as a Chicagoan born and raised, they deserved it! Fitzgerald is a bi-partisan convictor!

20. Fitz is in charge of the Chicago US attorney's office
and therefore has supervisory authority over the investigation, but he's not "running" it himself.

from both sides of the aisle and Fitz and his team of prosecutors have done more to clean it up than anyone in the last four decades. This state "...needs an enema!"

19. I'm not sure I believe this...Fitzgerald is the US Attorney there
and I don't think Fitz would do this. Unless it was an end-run around Fitz, done by the Bushco's.
