Bush plans Iowa flood tour
Source: desmoines register

Washington, D.C. – President Bush will visit flooded Iowa this week, possibly Thursday, congressional aides said today.

It’s not yet clear where the president may visit or when, aides said. But Beth Pellett Levine, press secretary to Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Ia., said "it’s our understanding" that the president will be in the state.

Bush returns to the United States late tonight from a trip to Europe.

White House spokesman Blair Jones confirmed Bush would be touring Midwestern flood damage this week, but did not specify which states he would visit.

"The White House announced today the president will travel to the Midwest on
Thursday to inspect flood damage," Jones said.

2. Time for that bu$h photo op tour
Stand next to some people who lost everything (maybe, maybe not) and look like you are going to help them recover Ha.

Iowa should tell him to stay the fuck away and send some checks instead

8. Send whatever it costs to have his 10,000 police keep him from
sure death as a check for the recovery. And MSM send whatever it costs to send your bootlicking scum to prop up the "Bushler", and stay home.

4. Governor Culver should respectfully ask him to stay away.
What does this accomplish?

How many cops and emergency management officials will be pulled away from their vital jobs so that he can go sightseeing?

6. Just in time to deny any assistance that Congress will try to provide
Harkin, Grassley, Braley, Loebsack (even King :wow:) have been here talking to folks (hauling sand bags too!) Bush? on Vaca and will now come to Iowa w/security lockdown as folks are trying to get into their homes for the first time in a week to salvage what's left of their belongings. :banghead:

7. Timing is Everything huh George?
Dear Mr. President:
The Iowa, Des Moines and Mississippi rivers are expected to be at crest stage BEFORE Thursday. Just like 9-11, Katrina and every other crisis in this country you fail to be there on time. You have once more demonstrated why the moniker "Chicken George" fits you best. Do you intend to strum on your guitar while flying over submerged Cedar Rapids? Will you "stage" a press conference on the outskirts of Iowa City and promise to put the weight of the federal government behind you in providing supplies, shelter and jobs to the abandoned? Will you dispatch whats left of the National Guard to Des Moines? What will you do Chicken?

9. Well, Golly Gee...I hate to tell the Prez, but the flood will be leaving Iowa
before Thursday. As usual, a day late and a dollar short.

His concern humbles me. Not!

12. Actually, this is greart news
Thank you Prez-nit Boosh...

Your "day late dollar short" appearance will be such a contrast
to Obama's timely presence in Iowa.
More votes.

Yayyyy...

It will really help if Curious George could manage to say something totally inane, stupid,
inappropriate, etc. on the tour.

( Betcha he's smart enuff to stay on the plane...pissed off flood victims with shovels.....not good.)

16. can you believe it? Governor Culver, who has been on the ground and HELPING
has declared 83 of Iowa's 99 counties disaster areas and has asked for federal assistance. Even with Chertoff and Paulson here Bush has only declared 24 of the 83 disaster areas. These people can't apply for FEMA or SBA assistance w/out that decleration....what an assclown.

17. Cedar Rapids residents are already getting PISSED because
the police aren't letting them back in to look over their flooded properties as soon as they originally promised, and this is going to further divert their duties.

I hope he's not planning on Iowans greeting him with flowers and chocolates...

23. louisiana 1927
What has happened down here is the wind have changed
Clouds roll in from the north and it started to rain
Rained real hard and rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline

The river rose all day
The river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood
Some people got away alright
The river have busted through cleard down to Plaquemines
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangelne

CHORUS
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tyrin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a note-pad in his hand
The President say, "Little fat man isn't it a shame what the river has
done
To this poor crackers land."

29. My aunt used to show me picture of where the water stopped in
Lafayette. There is a ridge running accross SW LA. right after the Vermillion river and that is where the water stopped. She had pictures of people on homemade rafts and it was amazing and terrible.

28. Like Katrina? Are are they more important since most are reallyl
white? Was it because Louisiana had a democrat governor or was it because the poor blacks and whites mainly sufferred?
Lets see how compassionate the hate monger right wing radio is to the red red heartland. They blamed the victims in Katrina.
