Poll: Obama has slight lead over McCain in Florida

...snip...

THE NUMBERS

Barack Obama, 47 percent

John McCain, 43 percent

...snip...

Obama wins Florida's youngest voters by a wide margin, while he and McCain split those age 35 and up. Nearly one in four say they are less likely to support McCain because of his age; if elected he would be 72 when sworn in as president. One in 20 says the same about Obama's being black. Whites back McCain, 50 percent to 40 percent, while virtually all blacks support Obama. Independents lean toward Obama by 10 percentage points, and more of them oppose Hillary Rodham Clinton being Obama's running mate than support it.

9. McCain's parroting of Bush on the drilling is also a idea if he wants to win Florida
Edited on Wed Jun-18-08 09:03 AM by Lone_Star_Dem
Bush is extremely unpopular there, as is offshore drilling. McCain managed to stick both his feet in his mouth at the same time.

I'm interested in seeing how this effects the next round of polling

10. It may be a bad idea, but it will be used to say that fuel prices will decrease if it is done

4. i know several people in FL who are convinced that Obama is a Muslim
older people.

they consider it a negative

i've spent some time clearing up that misconception with them, but
it indicates that there is a disinformation campaign here that's
working pretty well. if you spend a little time talking with these
folks they will see reason, so interaction with them is going to
be important and profitable. they're actually grateful to have the
misunderstanding corrected. i point out that john f. kennedy faced
similar religious prejudice, and that religion shouldn't be an issue
in any event.

i'm not sure where the myth is coming from because i don't watch tv
or read the newspapers here. little old person grapevine maybe.

i don't care about religion at all (except to ignore it) but other
folks are using it to mask their racism. i suppose if you clarify
that issue, they'll find something else.
