Bush To Filipino President: "I Am Reminded Of The Great Talent Of Our Philippine Americans When I Eat Dinner At The White House"

President Bush met with Filipino President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo today at the White House. Arroyo was in Washington while her country tries to recover from a typhoon that devastated coastal areas and flipped a ferry carrying over 800 passengers last week. Before discussing aide for the Philippines, Bush couldn't resist beginning the sober meeting with a quip about a Filipino member of his kitchen staff. Read part of the transcript from the meeting and click here to read more about one of the "Philippine-Americans" Bush is referring to. See the excerpt below:

PRESIDENT BUSH: Madam President, it is a pleasure to welcome you back to the Oval Office. We have just had a very constructive dialogue. First, I want to tell you how proud I am to be the President of a nation that -- in which there's a lot of Philippine-Americans. They love America and they love their heritage. And I reminded the President that I am reminded of the great talent of the -- of our Philippine-Americans when I eat dinner at the White House. (Laughter.)

PRESIDENT ARROYO: Yes.

PRESIDENT BUSH: And the chef is a great person and a really good cook, by the way, Madam President.

2. What a moron!
Ranks right up there with telling Nelson Mandela what a great African-American shoeshine boy he has.

Utterly contemptible, and completely lacking in basic human respect.

17. I think the very first thing that the new Ambassador
to the United Nations should do is to stand up and publicly apologize - in the name of the United States - for all of the sheer asshole things this guy did - (Not the war crimes or the lies or the complete destruction of the world because that is for the Hague) - just for all of the embarassingly idiotic stuff. Like this.

I think we will all feel a lot better. And then we can have the Hague try him.

29. Like destroying the Queen of England's historic gardens,
Edited on Tue Jun-24-08 07:58 PM by tblue37
grabbing the Chancellor Angel Merkel of Germany, to give her an impromptu and clearly unwelcome shoulder massage, chomping loudly and talking (and cursing) to Tony Blair with his mouth full at a dinner, while mikes and video cams were running, rudely grabbing Chinese President Hu Jintao by the jacket to keep him from walking down the stairs, making a grotesque face while trying to walk out of a fake door following a presser in China, being caught on camera writing a note to ask Condi for a pee-pee break at a UN meeting. . . . I really could go on and on and on.

You've heard the old saying "You can dress him up, but you can't take him out"? Well, Bush is precisely the sort of person that saying refers to.

34. You forgot showing up drunk in Slovenia

or riding into a policeman in Scotland

http://www.talkleft.com/story/2006/02/26/831/90801

It was "about 1800 hours on Wednesday, 6 July, 2005" that a detachment of Strathclyde police constables, in "Level 2 public order dress ," formed a protective line at the gate at the hotel's rear entrance, in case demonstrators penetrated the biggest-ever security operation on Scottish soil.

The official police incident report states: " was requested to cover the road junction on the Auchterarder to Braco Road as the President of the USA, George Bush, was cycling through." The report goes on: " about 1800 hours the President approached the junction at speed on the bicycle. The road was damp at the time. As the President passed the junction at speed he raised his left arm from the handlebars to wave to the police officers present while shouting 'thanks, you guys, for coming'.

"As he did this he lost control of the cycle, falling to the ground, causing both himself and his bicycle to strike on the lower legs. fell to the ground, striking his head. The President continued along the ground for approximately five metres, causing himself a number of abrasions. The officers... then assisted both injured parties."

The injured officer, who was not named, was whisked to Perth Royal Infirmary. The report adds: "While en-route President Bush phoned , enquiring after his wellbeing and apologising for the accident." At hospital, a doctor examined the constable and diagnosed damage to his ankle ligaments and issued him with crutches. The cause was officially recorded as: "Hit by moving/falling object."

**********

I could go on ....

37. That's exactly why, I think, a kind of UN general
assembly apology is really the only way to go under the circumstances. Maybe it can be televised with some of the highlights run -

From Bush's wrecking of the Queens Gardens:

"The Queen's own flock of flamingoes, which security staff insisted should be moved in case they flew into the helicopter rotors, are thought to be so traumatised after being taken to a "place of safety" that they might never return home."

The first woman. First minority. Well educated. Professional. Accomplished.

100k a year plus book deals, endorsements and speaking engagements, to do the job she trained for on three continents.

Susan Ralston and what "great talent" she had doing slick work for Abramoff and Rove.

Note: I do not intend to disparage any Philippine-Americans with my comment - Susan Ralston was dishonorable in her associations and what she did, IMHO.

35. What a patronizing little puke of an idiot.
Edited on Wed Jun-25-08 12:27 AM by Fridays Child
He reminds me of a tourist I once saw in a silver shop at San Xavier Mission, which is part of the Tohono O'odham Nation, south of Tucson. The guy just fell all over himself to make sure he spoke in the clipped speech patterns that actors portraying Native Americans used to deliver their lines in the old-time cowboy and Indian movies. And he peppered his dialog with expressions like "wampum," "How," and "heap big Injun." The thing is that he seriously believed he was not only extremely clever but very well-received by the tribe members running the shop. His utter cluelessness was exceeded only by his astounding obnoxiousness.

Just like Bush. :puke:

41. Being the WH chef is a damn prestigious job- pays very well, great benefits.
Although the President is indeed a fucking tool, this talented woman should not be compared to a hotel maid.

She beat out alot of other people to become the first female and first minority to hold the position.

This is not a position one would classify as your typical "servant" type job. She is a talented, well educated, professional who has excelled in her chosen career.

100K a year plus book deals, endorsements and speaking engagements.
