LAT/Bloomberg poll: 75% blame Bush's policies for deteriorating economy
Source: Los Angeles Times

By Maura Reynolds, Los Angeles Times Staff Writer
June 25, 2008

WASHINGTON -- Three out of four Americans, including large numbers of Republicans, blame President Bush's economic policies for making the country worse off during the last eight years, according to a Los Angeles Times/Bloomberg poll released today, reflecting a sharp increase in public pessimism during the last year.

Nine percent of respondents said the country's economic condition has become better off since Bush became president, compared with 75% who said conditions had worsened. Among Republicans, 42% said the country is worse off, while 26% said it is about the same, and only 22% thought economic conditions had improved....

The economic pessimism has deepened sharply in the last year, intensified by higher fuel prices, the poll found. When the question was asked in March 2007, 24% of respondents said Bush's policies had improved the nation's economy and 46% said they had made it worse.

The increased unhappiness is reflected in an all-time low in Bush's approval rating -- just 23% now, compared with 34% in February....

3. Why couldn't they have come to this conclusion four years ago?
There'd be a lot less of a mess to clean up now, that's for damn sure.

6. Partner blames Bush for the economy because she complains he has not been conservative enough!
She said if she was polled she would blame bush for the economy also because he hasn't championed what she believes is true conservativism. I don't get her at all.

4. I wonder why they think that?
I just don't know why everyone is so gloomy just because of a fast-sinking dollar, extremely high inflation among all necessities, an out-of-control trade deficit, a health care crisis, an energy crisis, a food crisis, a housing crisis, a credit crisis, a financial crisis, and a fiscal crisis. Other than all of that, we're in pretty good shape.

17. If people voted this way, Obama and Congressional Dems will sweep in November.
Amazingly enough, 9% of those polled have their heads stuck so far up their right-wing arses that they actually think the country's economic condition has become better off since Bush entered office.

Absofuckinglutely Infuckingcredible!

19. That means 25% of Americans are incredibly stupid
You simply can't give huge tax cuts to the wealthiest 1%, embroil the country in two expensive wars, etc and expect the economy to grow.

Trickle down didn't work for Reagan, didn't work for Bush Sr, and it sure as hell ain't working for *.
