Iran to ready thousands of graves for enemy soldiers
Source: Agence France Press

Iran is to dig 320,000 graves in border districts to allow for the burial of enemy soldiers in the event of any attack on its territory, a top commander said on Sunday.

1. Nice propoganda..
in the event of a war they should worry about their massed troops and how long it will take the US to collapse their air defense and communications systems.

Iran should not be attacked. However if they are attacked by another nation it would be unwise for them to attack the US.

Our Navy and Air Force are bored and looking for stuff to blow up.

3. It's very clever
I don't think the article says how they came up with that number. Far fewer than that many ground troops would be involved in any invasion.

and passed it on to Iran through the occult republicon homelander network of Volunteers for Armageddon.

Guess they can't figure exactly where IKE will land his divisions.
But their president is confident the mahdi will rise out of the well soon

13. The PNAC plan does not call for anhialating Iran, nor for sending in ground troops.
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 05:39 PM by IanDB1
PNAC doctrine is to hit them with a massive, decapitating air strike.

After which, a grateful populace will spontaneously rise-up against the mullahs, install a Jeffersonian Democracy, and become our bestest pals in the whole world.

Chocolate and flowers are optional.

16. They have missiles that could take out a few aircraft carriers..
"Of all the missiles in Iran's armament, the most dangerous is the Russian-made SS-N-22 Sunburn. These missiles are, simply, the fastest anti-ship weapons on the planet. The Sunburn can reach Mach 3 at high altitude. Its maximum low-altitude speed is Mach 2.2, some three times faster than the American-made Harpoon. The Sunburn takes two short minutes to cover its full range. The missile's manufacturers state that one or two missiles could cripple a destroyer, and five missiles could sink a 20,000 ton ship. The Sunburn is also superior to the Exocet missile. Recall that it was two Exocets that ripped the USS Stark to shreds in 1987, killing 37 sailors. The Stark could not see them to stop them.

The US aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt is currently deployed in the Persian Gulf, with some 7,000 souls aboard. Sailing with the Roosevelt is the Tarawa Expeditionary Strike Force, which includes the USS Tarawa, the USS Austin, and the USS Pearl Harbor. The USS Austin is likewise deployed in the Gulf. The Sunburn missile, with its incredible speed and ability to avoid radar detection, would do terrible damage these ships if Iran chooses to retaliate in the Gulf after an American attack within its borders."

Cheney would know this and is probably counting on us to go along with retaliatory nuclear strikes after we lose about ten thousand sailors.

the did loose a destroyer to soviet cruise missile during the 1967 war. Hezbollah has been never supplied that type of missle by Iran.

10 years ago.. Pretty sure we are aware of it. This would be something the navy may be aware of.

The sunburn is a joke that started life in the minds of most posters here in a Rense article.

What if we do not attack iran? What if israel does? If they attack us in response an Israeli attack that would be ad for them.

2. I'm sure we'll be able to bury our own dead just fine, thank you, right in their barracks in Iraq.
When the Iranian missiles hit them.

That is, unless Bush hires the same company to dispose of the bodies of our troops that he hired after Hurricane Katrina.

You know.

The company that paid millions of dollars in a lawsuit for robbing Jewish graves and dumping their bodies in the woods.

The one whose lawyer Dick Cheney shot in the face.

4. The CEP is to wide
they have no systems that can hit a target that small. I doubt Iran is dumb enough to claim a accuracy based on GPS.

They would just be lobbing explosives in to population centers in Iraq.

8. Nope, If we just wanted to kill people
you don't send infantry units with rifles. You send massed artillery and big airplanes that drop sticks of bombs. We were killing around 100,000 a day towards the end of ww2, I think we could do the same in 2008 if that was our choice.

That does not mean we are not fucking up on a grand scale.

29. Why do we care if Iran gets nukes? This would put Israel/Iran in a standoff--
like the Cold War. Mutually assured destruction and all that. Back to boots on the ground, and spy vs. spy, cuz nobody wants nuclear winter. And then we can go home, leaving a "balance of power" behind us, and Israel/Iran can fight it out, in Iraq or wherever, using conventional means, without endangering all life on earth.

So, why do we care? Iran will NEVER use them. They're not stupid. What's the big deal? Or is it all just a fucking lie and a ruse?

Really, I don't get it. We nuke Iran...to stop nukes? That doesn't make any sense. And what if we can't find their nukes? We just bomb their people? WHY? WHAT are we trying to hit? And what is the PURPOSE of it?

I thought our military said they CAN'T FIND Iran's nuclear facilities--they're underground or something--and therefore nuking them would be merely guessing and really, really dumb. Cuz after you do that, THEN what? We cannot occupy Iraq--we don't have the troops--unless we decimate their population. WHY do that? What have they done to deserve that? Do we slaughter a million people in Iran, like we did in Iraq, just for the hell of it?

My solution is best. Forget it! Just walk away. Iran may or may not continue with a nuke weapons program, and, if they do, so what? Israel will be checkmated. So what? They can defend themselves from conventional attack. So can Iran. And if they both have nukes, neither will use them.

I think the answer to all the above questions is OIL. Iran getting nukes is NOT the reason that the Bushites want to bomb Iran.

30. game theory assumes all players are rational
dont think we are quite there yet. The north koreans seem to have figured out that being a nuclear power is not as much fun.

Cant shoot missiles off at wacky times, I mean you get nuked for doing that stuff.

Iran only increases its chance of destruction if it becomes a nuclear power.

It will have to renounce the npt, which will kick it squa in the nuts economically.

For perpetual war to work, you need a good supply of enemies.

Perpetual war = years of defense contractors gorging at the public trough.

40. To those who say it can't happen.
Edited on Sun Jun-29-08 11:41 PM by higher class
The motivations are compelling for Cheney and his barons.

Repay Israel for favors.
Take Iran's oil and gas to make it safer to take Iraqi oil and gas.

A few things to watch for before saying it will never happen:
AIPAC, Cheney, Bolton type's continue to tell us how dangerous Iran is (meaning dangerous to the barons and stockholders)
The Pentagon tells us a variation on the flowers and dancing in the streets.
Dems called in to speak and prepare the Dems, but mostly to make a bundle for themselves/
Washington and New York papers continue to tell us how it will be done..
Ships pull out.
Israel air force activates.
Soldiers destined to Afghanistan told they are on standby.
At about the time of the Dem Convention.
So that the Repub Convention can be a Bush bull horn affair with banners.

I've come to despair over all organized religions who sanction killing by war.
I've come to despair the History Channel for drumming war into the heads of millions.
I've come to despair Hollywood for glamorizing war and I now only believe in documentaries about the undeserved tragedies to the people and not the glorification of the military.
I've come to despair of (supposedly) humanitarian leaders of other countries who don't lead their people in protests against the U.S. and Israel and help with counter-solutions.

This is a ridiculously inhumane willful disgraceful diabolical act against fellow human beings.

I am ashamed of my country and Israel.
