Autopsy: UNC student shot multiple times
Source: CNN

(CNN) -- The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student body president who was killed this year was shot several times, including in her head, according to her autopsy report released Monday.

Carson's autopsy report lists six gunshot wounds, but says two were probably from the same bullet, according to North Carolina's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Her autopsy -- released after a North Carolina newspaper filed a court motion to have it unsealed -- describes wounds to various parts Carson's body. It says shotgun wounds to her head and hand "most likely represent a single shot with the hand acting as an intermediate target."

The autopsy says sexual assault testing was done. It does not say whether any sign of sexual assault was found.

4. Just another example of how our society fails it's young men.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections Web site, both suspects have criminal pasts. Atwater has been convicted of two felonies, including possession of a firearm by a felon, and Lovett was found guilty of misdemeanor breaking and entering and larceny in January.

Didn't they read the law that says you can't have a gun if you are a felon? What is wrong with these people?

Sociopaths. I hope they serve very hard time until the day they take their last, miserable rale.

10. Yes and laws stop this stuff right?
Ohh yeah perfect sense.. yeah right..

Criminals do not give a damn about the law hence criminal. However law abiding citizens get punished and penalized for this kinda behavior and more laws make us safer...

12. Laws would have been sufficient
Had they been properly enforced. They were not.

But hey, I'm sure you've been following this a lot closer than the other folks on this thread. :eyes:

13. "Didn't they read the law that says you can't have a gun if you are a felon? "
You just successfully argued the point for all of us who were pleased with the SC's ruling on 2nd Amendment interpretation of an individual's right to bear arms. The thugs will ALWAYS have weapons, and when senseless crimes such as this occur, I have to wonder, "Would she have had a chance had she had a gun?"

3. These two assholes will bring back the death penalty in NC
guaranteed. Personally I would rather they sit somewhere like florence ADX where no one will visit them, they see no sunlight, and speak to no one. Cant hear a dog bark, literally.

Worthless bastards.

7. It has been a very difficult day at UNC - here are some pix of memorials to Eve - made in March
Edited on Mon Jun-30-08 08:18 PM by 1Hippiechick
One of my responsibilities is summarizing UNC press coverage. To facilitate that, I have created several Google e-mail alerts with key phrases so that when any occurence of those key words appear on the web, I receive a Google alert. I received e-mail alerts every few minutes, all day long, concerning the findings of Eve Carson's death. It has been difficult for everyone. I was surprised to see the post here, but am grateful, because it gives me an opportunity to share with you 3-4 pictures of her peers' expressions after her death. From the Governor and on down, Eve has made a difference in everyone's life, and will continue to in death. My heart goes out to her family as all of this media attention with gory details surface. None of us on campus knew until last Thursday or Friday that she had been kidnapped from her house - everyone assumed that she was in her car when abducted. All I can say is that it has been very, very difficult.

On the quad in front of South Building, students post announcements on these "message boxes". After Eve Carson's death, these became a makeshift memorial with students writing memories of Eve

Here are a couple of closeups of messages:

The students left flower memorials also

What a pleasant surprise to arrive on campus a couple of weeks later and be greeted by this anonymous, beautiful Carolina Blue butterfly bench, complete with bronze plaque.

We love you, Eve.

8. I live near by
this is terrible senseless thing. However the compassion and care shown by the student body and community is amazing.

I see no need for the information to be released to the press, they can get this information but they do not have to publish it. There is plenty of information that is made available to the media that is not mass distributed. The report should have been released but not distributed.

Nothing much else to say.

11. Releasing details could prejudice the jury.
I don't see any gain whatsoever for the media to share that information publicly. Pure voyerism. I guess the 'if it bleeds it leads' adage is still true.

The tribute coverage is nice though. Tough times for many of those students.

Edited on Tue Jul-01-08 11:16 AM by NYCparalegal
Of course, he was not blonde or pretty or white, :sarcasm: but let's not forget him as well. He was Abhijit Mahato, 29, a Ph.D. candidate in engineering, originally from India.
