DENVER - Newly discovered DNA evidence in the notorious JonBenet Ramsey murder case does not match any Ramsey family members or anyone in law enforcement DNA databases, NBC affiliate KUSA reported Wednesday.

The discovery, from a new testing method, prompted the Boulder district attorney’s office to release a letter officially clearing the Ramsey family, including John, Patsy and their immediate family, of any involvement in the December 1996 death of the 6-year-old.

The recent testing was done on a different area of the child’s clothing, and it matches previous DNA tested from the child’s panties in 1997. It is DNA from a male.

I realize that this isn't world shaking news, but I feel for this child and her family, so thought it was worth posting. ;(

3. Actually it is important, because it is another example of the media screwing up
Richard Jewell, Steven Hatfill, WMDs, and HUNDREDS of other lies and misrepresentations

5. Bingo. Further, some in the police implicated them, meaning they were a well-financed attorney
away from suffering the same fate as Tim McMasters.

7. It is a very serious situation what they put that family through. We are assumed innocent
or at least suppossed to be in this country

I have no doubt that the death of the mother by cancer, was agrivated by this

11. Exactly. All standard of Journalism have been
thrown to the wayside. The MSM has become nothing more than cheap tabloid rag news. I think the problem is that "news" is no longer a place for "newsmen" or "newspersons" but has turned into "infotainment" with dim witted cute looking air heads rather than serious people repoting to the public. (I hope I just explained my thoughts clearly, it is hard to put into words).

8. It pretty much is.
Since these people have been hanged by so many people. I'm guessing if you were accused of murder on every cable news show, dozens of books, talk radio and on the internet, you'd probably what your name cleared too.

25. Yes, it is important... Apparently, you missed out on civics...
These people were tried and convicted in the media. It's sad that they were looked at as guilty when there was nothing to prove it. And it has gone on for years. Have a heart will you? What the hell kind of person can be so callous?

6. Expect all news stations to launch in 24-7 Jon Benet stories
to cover up the the end of the 4th amendment and that Iraq wants us out.

They so wanted to believe the parents were responsible for her death.

because innocent people being cleared doesn't score big in the ratings.

But the Ramsey case is getting more coverage, you're right. Very sad. :-(

12. it's not the most important story in the world
But it is interesting and I'm glad you posted the story, Rhiannon.

I wonder if there's a way they can track the DNA on the local recluse, now passed on?

And I think they now can, given new technologies. I thought that it was a very sad case.:-(

13. So, wouldn't the DNA recovered in 1997 also have exonerated the family?
It's amazing how poorly written the average story coming out of the MSM is.

15. You have to admit
That the evidence was strange like the note and the second note found. The amount of his Christmas bonus $118,000. Change of clothing on the girl. Lack of changing of clothing from Patsy who was wearing the same clothes as the night before for the Christmas party. Even though they said they were sleeping. The beauty pagent crowd who like seeing liitle girls look like whores. I'm all for DNA but they did it to themselves. There were reports too that whoever did this gave her a bath after they killed her. I'm sorry but how does a stranger do that? Why would they do that? Yes the police fucked up. And I still have my doubts about this case.

21. Come on, Kay, I don't mind being flamed, LOL.
I just posted this before somebody else did, when I heard it on the news. I can take it, I promise. I've been on DU since early 2003, have been a mod, so I've seen the worst that DU has to offer. But I still remain here, since DU is my on-line home, and I can take it. I just posted this on LBN before someone else did, since my friend Kephra is gone, and I thought someone else might be interested...:hi:

19. I agree. This case was extremely strange.
And I'm not giving the parents a pass, since I can't imagine putting a small child into the limelite as they did. I think it's kind of sick. But, apparently, her mom was a beauty queen and expected the same for her pretty little daughter. And the child apparently enjoyed it. Most kids would enjoy the attention, but that doesn't make it right. And there were a whole lot of rumors, when this story first came out. But I'm glad that they're finally getting to the bottom of this, though her mother died two years ago, from cancer... :-(

23. Ouch...
"The beauty pageant crowd who like seeing liitle girls look like whores. I'm all for DNA but they did it to themselves."

This sounds a little too much like: "Look at how she was dressed, she was asking for it" that is SO sexist as to make flowers wilt.

I definitely don't approve of the ways that these pageants sexualize little girls, but I won't go so far as say that just because she was in beauty pageants it follows that the parents "did it to themselves"

But that doesn't mean that we'll get anymore news on Iraq, or Afghanistan, since the MSM doesn't want us to get depressed... :-(

She was going to be their cash cow, they would never murder the kid.
