Loud Blast Resounds Across Central Baghdad
Loud Blast Resounds Across Central Baghdad
Fri January 30, 2004 12:32 PM ET

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - A loud blast rang out across central Baghdad after dark on Friday, Reuters witnesses said.
The U.S. Army had no immediate information on the cause of the blast. Several times in the last few months, the U.S.-led administration headquarters in Baghdad has been targeted by mortars or rockets.

1. Whether you agree or disagree with the war
Pray for the safety of our troops who are just doing their job and following orders.

2. I hope for the safety of all parties
I don't pray, and I don't restrict my good wishes based on borders.

6. I'm with you markses
For me, sentiment regarding membership in the human race trumps nationalism. IMO, US indifference to Iraqi casualties is shameful.

4. I am both sad and angry on behalf of our troops,...
,...I want my friends and brother to come home safely.

Meanwhile, I will do my best to rid our country of the "freon neocons" that are misusing and abusing our people and the resources of this great nation to serve the financial/influential interests of the "freon neocon" regime.

ABB!!!

ABB!!!

ABB!!!

3. What a mess
Baghdad is starting to remind me of the movie "Brazil" where there are so many explosions all the time nobody notices.

7. although
I don't wish any harm to befall any of our soldiers (or anybody else) that last bit of the original post "just doing their jobs and following orders" sounds somehow familiar and pernicious.

Welcome! :hi:

And, DITTO, markses! The horrible and purposely engineered tragedy of Iraq has cost over ten thousand lives. I support all who must remain safe until they can return to their homes and, in the case of the Iraqi citizens, what's left of their families.

Have any press reports mentioned that these bombings usually happen at the same time every day?

12. It's telling, isn't it?
That the Green Zone gets shelled nearly every day at about 9:00 local time and that the US military doesn't seem to be able to do anything about it.

13. more flowers and candy I see
I think Wolfowitz should enjoy far more of the local custom
of throwing candy and flower petals... once was not enough.

The same goes for the rest of the mis administration.

As to the troops and locals, one word DUCK!
