Bush says he still plans to cut deficit
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4098618/

President Bush said Friday that he still planned to cut the federal budget deficit in half over the next five years despite White House estimates that new prescription drug benefits would cost about a third more than expected.

Bush faces the prospect of an election-year rebellion by Republican conservatives over the high cost of implementing new Medicare reforms and may also be challenged by moderates in his own party over proposed cuts in domestic spending.

<snip>

Many conservatives were enraged Thursday to learn that Bush’s budget would sharply increase the price tag for the Medicare plan, which they opposed.

Stephen Moore, president of the Club for Growth, a politically powerful conservative group, called the new cost estimate a “financial scandal.”

“The real question is what did the president know and when did he know it,” Moore said.

1. "The real question is what did the president know and when did he know it.
Is something that could apply to all the disasters he's gotten us into.

3. Why did anyone think that if they made him the President
he would all of a sudden become smart and not be a failure anymore?

How often does anyone else who is stupid and a failure get a chance like that?

14. Hell, current republicans shoud be voting against this miserable failure..
The damage that Bushco would do with another four years without having to worry about re-election should strike fear into the heart of any republican who cares about the future of their party...

12. Impossible.
Add up the entitlements, military expenditures, and interest on the national debt. Subtract the money from the huge tax cuts for the wealthiest.

Bush must still have a stash of magic dust somewhere.

19. Reagan said that, too.
Back then it was called Voodoo Economics. It took a decade to dig the Treasury out of the Reagan/Bush hole. It will take much longer to dig out of Dumya's massive chasm. We no longer have an exploding tech (or other) industry fueling rapid growth and increased tax revenues. Plus any new jobs created today including some of the best jobs are much more likely now to be located offshore and filled by people who will not be paying taxes into the U.S. Treasury.

22. Easy to say when you have a complete disconnect between what
you say and what your administration does. I think that bush's policy disconnect frees him to say just about anything - regardless how ridiculous and orwellian the content. If he doesn't understand (or care to try to understand) the impact of his policies - then he is free to say anything - because it is all gibberish to him anyway.
