McCain says Obama should visit South America
By Steve Holland

PHOENIX (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain, who has hectored Democratic rival Barack Obama to visit Iraq, now says Obama should go to South America as well.

McCain, an Arizona senator, is to make the case in a speech on Monday in San Diego to the National Council of La Raza, one of the most important advocacy groups in the United States for Hispanic Americans.

McCain, who needs support from Hispanic Americans in his battle against Obama in the November 4 presidential election, will tell the group about his support for a stalled free trade agreement between the United States and Colombia and a hemispheric trade pact.

"And while it is surely not my intention to become my opponent's scheduler, I hope Sen. Obama soon visits some of the other countries of the Americas for the first time," McCain is to say, according to excerpts released by his campaign. "Were he to do so, I think he, too, would see that stronger economic bonds with our neighbors and the closer friendships they encourage, are a great benefit in many ways to our country."

1. And I think . . .
McCain should go visit New York and California. Spend all his time there, in fact. Or better yet, go back to Latin America and court all those electoral votes.

4. Stronger economic bonds?

Doesn't he mean stronger economic bondage?

Seriously, though, if there's one candidate who can get on the good side of all the new progressive leaders down in South America, it's Obama.

If he paid half as much attention to his own campaign as he does to O's, he might have a chance.

14. Finally, McBush is making sense...
As a DU'er currently vacationing in Brazil, I wholeheartedly agree with McSame.

Obama would gain some good foreign policy creds and strengthen his ties with Latinos at home.

For Barack... it's a win win situation... what could be better??

20. What a piece of crap mccain is.
My God. I can't believe how many screwups he and his clueless "surrogates" made just last week alone. (He takes places 1 through 9 in this week's Conservative Idiots!)

Idiotic remarks about Social Security. Radio ads in Spanish consisting entirely of lies. Flip-flops and contradictions on every subject imaginable. And this was all in one week, early in the campaign!

I wonder what we have to look forward to from mcIdiot and his merrie fooles this week!

22. Puzzling
Sure they want him out of the country as much as possible to launch some new dirt while he's gone, but is their anything more sinister in the challenge? McCain went to Columbia, a pesthole of black bag operations and violence. At the least he may have set up some PR traps in the US tyranny circuit and some stateside reaction in the independent socialist circuit.

I would ignore this time wasting high road endeavor because they WANT Obama disengaged from the home ground for some length of time when the MSM can cut him off and pump the newest swiftboat scheme. Visit the barrios and the border and US communities. Plenty to do here without acting presidential over there somewhere. The Iraq trip is necessary and will attract the main attention for the main issue. The temptation to whip up huge crowds in friendlier countries I don't think was ever exploited by first time presidential candidates during the campaign?

Who is McCain to keep telling Obama what to do, where to go and who to meet with? As if he has his best interests at heart.

I think McCain has a meeting with Charles Keating.
