ACLU Says Police Spied On Anti-War, Anti-Death Penalty Groups

BALTIMORE -- State police documents obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union reveal that undercover police officers infiltrated local groups opposed to the death penalty and the war.

The ACLU released the documents Thursday and argued that what police did during 2005 and 2006 is no different than the days of the FBI under J. Edgar Hoover and the targeting of activist groups during the 1960s.

The internal documents show that nearly three dozen times, undercover state police officers covertly took part in protests and in the meetings groups set up to organize them. The documents included the reports the officers wrote on the meetings detailing how many people attended, what they discussed and the protests they planned to do next, WBAL TV 11 News I-Team lead investigative reporter Jayne Miller said.

"What these documents reveal is beyond shocking," said David Rocha of the ACLU.

Of course this happened while we we suffering under the Ehrlich/Steele misadministration. Wonder how much more they will find. Also wonder if my name is on any of their list.

5. For anyone who wonders who the 'Black Blockers' were at the Seattle G7 'riot'.

This is one of several reasons I do not trust
people who cover their faces during protests.

The rationale is that the authorities will
photograph you and open a file on your activities.
Or so the so called anarchist movement would have
you believe.

However it's an ideal way for police infiltrators
to intentionally ignite violence to justify violent
police suppression of peaceful protest events.

There are a number of vids on You tube showing undercover
cops trying to do just that. In one vid the organizer of
the event accused a masked protester of being an undercover
cop and pulled off the guy's mask. The masked protester was
quickly and gently removed by uniformed police and released.

7. I heard the author of the initiative on the radio
He said some people didn't like the idea for one of two reasons:

1) They don't want anything named after nimrod.
2) The sewage treatment plant performs a positive function in society.

9. It IS a terrible thing to do to sewage. Maybe a prison would be better to name for him.
One where he is sentenced to spend the rest of his miserable life.

19. Given this
presidents habit of not releasing people from other prisons? No
A sewage plant with his name is about all Bush is worth and is far more fitting.

11. Hilarious

I love the arguments against it - - both valid! Still, it's great that this is on the ballot and I hope it passes.

15. I agree with point 2

Michelle Obama's father worked for the Chicago city water department.

Whether one finds bodily functions to be funny or not, sanitation is critical to urban existence, and it is noble thankless work.

16. Love it. A former Water Pollution Control Plant will be the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.
Nowadays, these plants are usually referred to as water reclamation plants, wastewater treatment plants,or,as in the above plant,a water pollution control plant.

To simply call this plant the George W. Bush Sewage Plant is a double smack down to the dipshit in chief.

Hell, just call it the George W. Bush Shit Plant.
