McCain indicates U.S. troops could withdraw in 2 years
Source: Reuters

BUFFALO, New York (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate John McCain appeared to leave a door open on Monday to a large-scale drawdown of U.S. troops from Iraq in the next two years.

McCain, who has wrapped up his party's White House nomination, has long argued against setting a timetable for U.S. troop withdrawal.

After a meeting with former President George H.W. Bush, McCain was asked whether it was conceivable for U.S. troops to be fully pulled out of Iraq in about two years.

"I think they could be largely withdrawn," the Arizona senator replied, citing the success of the "surge" strategy of increasing U.S. troop levels in increasing security in the country.

3. McCain must have seen some poll and freaked
Seeing as how he has no clue whatsoever what constitutes "winning," (his stated goal),
and seeing as how both Iraq and most of America wants us out, gee do you think he might
be starting to listen to the voters instead of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney? Naaaah, must
be some kind of coincidence, or else he was having a bad hair day, or something......

The BIG loser in this is.......Joe Lieberman!! If McCain abandons his previous stance
and adopts Obama's position, the only one left with McCain's position is not even McCain,
but Joe Lieberman, who at this point would lose an election for dog catcher to Bob Barr.

6. Obama's pressure is working
It is because of Obama's continuous call for withdrawal that McCain is now on the defensive, and feels compelled to call for shorter prescence in Iraq for the troops. Good.

15. John McCain just surrendered this Election
His one issue was National Security.
Iraq was key to this.

Now he has just totally undermined his credibility and betrayed all those who supported him because he refused all timetables.

20. It's NOT a flip-flop, so stop saying that!
Obama's just engaging in more pre-emptive copycatting, that's what it is. See, Obama knew that McThuselah was going to radically alter his position on troop withdrawals because McThuselah is a foreign policy genius. So Obama, who doesn't know anything about anything, pre-emptively copied what he knew McThuselah was going to do, and made it look like he thought of it first, when he really didn't. See? Arrest my case!

25. Tacked a whole 8 months on to Obama's long-standing plan
If he's talking about FROM TODAY, as opposed to from inauguration day, then that works out to......

.......oh..................

........i dunno.............

19 months.

Instead of Obama's 16 months.

What a fucking tool McCain is.
