Rove Threatened GOP IT Guru If He Does Not 'Take the Fall' for Election Fraud in Ohio, Says Attorney
Letter Sent to Attorney General Mukasey Requesting 'Protection for Mr. Connell and His Family From This Reported Attempt to Intimidate a Witness' After Tip from 'Credible Source'
UPDATED: OH AG Reportedly Asked to Provide Immunity Protection...

OH attorney Cliff Arnebeck sent an email to AG Mukasey today asking for protection of the GOP's "high IQ Forrest Gump", following reports of threats sent to Mike Connell and his wife if he was unwilling to "take the fall" for fraud in the Buckeye State's '04 election. The reports of a threat from Rove, said to have come from 'credible sources,' comes on the heels of Arnebeck's announcement last week that he's filed a motion to lift the stay on a long-standing 2004 federal election lawsuit based on the discovery of new information. Details and the complete email from Arnebeck to Mukasey are posted at the link below...

Put him in a decompression chamber and have fun. Or maybe a sensory deprivation tank for a few hours. He'll say whatever you want him to say. It's just "enhanced interrogation" that's all.

Connell hates democrats.; Got contract for the firewalls used by congress and builds the computer systems for House Ways and Means, Intelligence, Judicial, Rules and Ethics etc and began spying on all the committees and the DoJ AG Ashcroft and Comey found out and were asked to sign off and refused and threatened to resign along with the top tier of the Justice dept.

Now we know what was big enough...bigger than the illegal spying on Americans that got Ashcroft replaced by Gonzales. No republican was gonna complain and they knew what dems were planning every step of the way.

Rove gets to engage in political prosecutions and threaten people, but we can't have him arrested when he actually breaks the law and gets caught. I might become a republican just for the aura of being above the law. Pretty much everyone walked away unscathed from iran Contra, and I'm sure Rove will put all of Conyers 'sternly worded letters' in a frame that he'll hang in his living room.

None. Like Florida in 2000 and 2004.

Can they do it again? I don't know. The whole U.S. attorneys scandal was to assure the election of Republicans. They may be able to do it again - fraud, intimidation, the whole "voter ID" thing, which is Rove's ultimate fantasy.

20. Why trust these Rs at all? Seems like a distraction or False Flag type ruse.
False flag operations are operations designed to appear different than they really are.

Ohio had the easiest to steal elections in history. Ridiculously easy beyond belief!!
To make a Kerry vote count for Bush, you moved the ballot to the next precinct.

Now, if you did not know that, ask why!
Four years of smoke screens and false flags, maybe??

I smell a huge pile of steaming BS!

35. The end for whom, and which bus? Ohio did not steal the election!
There is a big difference between saying "Ohio stole the election" and the "Ohio election was stolen"!!

It seems the litigants were unable to make a case, and they did not reach settlement with the State of Ohio, who they are suing for fixing the election.
That's right. These litigants claim Ohio stole the election. Well, if Ohio did not fix the election, then I guess this is the end of the litigation, unless they can still make a case somehow. Seems like they are trying to put wheels on that bus, any wheel at all, even if just hearsay from a Republican.

Yes, presidents can do this, and they have. The first acts of clemency in the Grant administration were to revoke pardons granted by Andrew Johnson. Likewise, Richard Nixon stopped some pardons granted by LBJ. This is exactly why there was some chatter about Bush revoking the Marc Rich pardon - PardonPower.com

67. Worked for Nixon
Thirty years ago, President Gerald Ford stunned the nation by granting his crooked predecessor, Richard Nixon, a preemptive blanket pardon for all of his White House crimes. He did so, Ford said, for the good of the country: "My conscience tells me it is my duty, not merely to proclaim domestic tranquility but to use every means that I have to insure it."
...
The true coziness of the Nixon-Ford relationship was not known until Ford’s death in late 2006. It was also not discovered until then that Ford had made a firm pre-resignation pledge to Nixon to do “anything, under any circumstances” to aid the beleaguered president.

After Ford’s death, the Washington Post’s Bob Woodward disclosed that Nixon and Ford had successfully kept a big secret: They’d been tight pals – going back to their first days in Congress in the 1940s, right up until Nixon’s death in 1994. Ford described himself as Nixon’s “only real friend.” And he put the pardon in an entirely new light: "I looked upon (Nixon) as my personal friend. And I always treasured our relationship. And I had no hesitancy about granting the pardon, because I felt that we had this relationship and that I didn't want to see my real friend have the stigma.” This is a far cry from the high-minded explanation Ford had publicly given in 1974 – that the pardon was designed to insure domestic tranquility and to heal the wounds of Watergate.

I'm sure you knew this already, but I thought it was a good article.

Edited on Thu Jul-24-08 09:53 PM by higher class
will that be good enough to overcome the power of the DLC Dems and the Repub Dems?

I don't think the DLC Dems can manipulate Arnebeck and even though he needs Congress, this case may move forward without the say of the DLC Dems.

A threat is an admission in this case. We need the right judge. We need to have the Connells kept alive. We need to show that it's safe for other whistleblowers.

It's not yet time to shout in happiness about breaking news regarding Rove. Even though we know that there was theft, even if we know that Rove was one at the center of it, even if we know that the Republicans were the thieves ... we are in a better place with Arnebeck. That is a very sorry statement to have to make. Not because Arnebeck is a sorry statement, sorry because we can't rely on and trust our own to act on anything - not even doing one blasted thing to make the next election honest.

Where was Kerry and the DLC when Arnebeck stayed on in Ohio to fight the theft legally. Seems he was smart enough to stay the case. Time to light the candles that the DLC 'can't talk to Arnebeck'.

It's time to eagle eye the DLC Dems for any stalling or blocking efforts. It's time to wonder if Connell destroyed his own e-mail and hard drives, even if this first step is about receiving threats?

It's too darn bad that we have to think about working around the DLC. The citizens don't deserve any of this.

The mystery of mysteries is why Rove thought he and they would get away with all of this. It's a mystery that all those who had to be told the whole story or parts of a story would walk away believing that they were going to get away with all their crimes.

Let's hope this story on Bradblog is true, that we can place our trust in Arnebeck.

Personally, I back every leader who backs my vote. Where are the leaders. Even if they get Rove, will we still get our votes back? This is not simple because of Dems. Not all.

76. They can't keep this news buttoned down like the good old days.
They're starting to realize it, now.

The biggest mistake they made, besides getting so greedy that people caught on, is that they underestimated the power of the internets.

They can't hide anythign anymore. They know it starts in the blogs and goes to the message boards and then gets picked up and investigated by Keith and the radio people, and eventually, NPR will run something on it, and the networks can't hold the damb back.

This is going to happen. This is finally going to happen.

Appreciate the kind words, and still mourning the loss of Progressive Radio in Sacramento. It's extraordinary. I miss Christine but do do her show occasionally on KGO as you pointed out.

I'm on Peter B's show every Friday at 5pm PT. You can listen at http://www.PeterBCollins.com if his show is not aired in your town (which it isn't, in Sacramento, since TalkCity shut down).

Today we will be joined by Cliff Arnebeck to discuss all of the above, so hope you'll tune in and/or call in! (888-5-PeterB!)

83. my god--this is a powerful summary:

FITRAKIS: when you take the most partisan IT man in the history of the US, every time an irregularity occurs, Florida 2000, 2004 Ohio, he's the guy who built the system.

Then you put him in charge of building the security and firewall for the U.S. Congress? Dealing with the most sensitive matters? All of the emails and communications of the party that he hates?

Uh, how can you do that? I mean, it's an invitation to spy.

It's an invitation to gather information in an information age.

Knowledge is power. He holds the secrets of the temple.

The most partisan IT man on earth was at the scene of every crime is the guy who's protecting the secrecy and security of the Democrats he despises.

That's what's wrong about it.

138. KKKarl Rove should be behind bars.
Preferably in one of those secret maximum security prisons the GOP has been promoting lately.

140. Now Connell is working for McVain?.....
from the above link:

Connell was described in a recent interview with the plaintiff's attorneys in Ohio as a "high IQ Forrest Gump" for his appearance "at the scene of every crime" from Florida 2000 to Ohio 2004 to the RNC email system to the installation of the currently-used Congressional computer network firewall.

Connell and his firm are currently employed by the John McCain campaign, as well as the RNC and other Republican and so-called "faith-based" organizations.

Man, somebody ought to bring this out in a Q&A with McCain...

143. There are a few of us here that think Rove & Co. will not go gently into that good night.
I think some very terrible things may befall us between now and November.

Rove/Cheney are not likely to turn over power cheerfully. I have a theory as to what might happen, but I don't want to sound like a nut.

I will say that George W. Bush has been very useful to them. At least up to now.
