DRM still sucks: Yahoo Music going dark, taking keys with it
Source: Ars Technica

Once the Yahoo store goes down and the key servers go offline, existing tracks cannot be authorized to play on new computers. Instead, Yahoo recommends the old, lame, and lossy workaround of burning the files to CD, then reripping them onto the computer. Sure, you'll lose a bunch of blank CDs, sound quality, and all the metadata, but that's a small price to pay for the privilege of being able to listen to that music you lawfully acquired. Good thing you didn't download it illegally or just buy it on CD!

1. People Buy music??
last thing (other than bits of brilliant stuff ) I bought was 1999.

What was the name of that cd club where they send you 7 cd for free and then you buy 10 more or some shit..Bet they are still after me.

colombia house, miserable bastards. I never buy media unless I watched or listened to it first.

5. Apparently you never buy music even AFTER you've listened to it :)

Or you would surely have bought *something* since 1999.

:)

10. I Haven't Bought A Disk In Years Myself.
I know there's good music out there somewhere. It's just not on the radio and I don't have an inclination to find it. Most of the time I find myself trying to find an old tune I heard in an advertisement or video game. If, when I find it, it's DRM'd I don't bother.

6. Simple, $35 all the music you want.
Buy a program called REPLAY music.
Just do it.
Get a subscription to Rhapsody.
REPLAY records any streaming music regardless of where it comes from.
Cue up a 100 song play-list from Rhapsody, hit record on REPLAY, and go to work or go to sleep.
Come home or wake up and you have almost anything you want.
It's scary cool.

9. thats what I did on radio @aol accept I used windows sound recorder just made a
big wave file. Then if I heard a song I like Id just press recored then at the end id just roll it back and cut the file and save to file.Really easer to just dl it from p2p but on the other hand with cd quality even though the file was big you got a good sounding song I wound up converting them to higher bit rate mp3s to save space.;-)
