Politico.comFor the first time this election, Rep. Sam Graves (R-Mo.) has less campaign cash to spend than his Democratic opponent, former Kansas City mayor Kay Barnes.
Barnes nearly doubled Graves’ fundraising output in the second quarter, raising $601,000 to his $330,000. She now has $962,000 in her campaign account, while Graves has banked $936,000.
Of course, money isn’t the only factor in who will win the hotly-contested race. Graves’ campaign has gotten plenty of attention for its early messaging, already airing two advertisements portraying Barnes as a “San Francisco liberal."
