Source: Fox Atlanta

ATLANTA (MyFOX Atlanta) – The Chairman of the Democratic National Committee was in Atlanta Saturday, hoping to encourage Democrats to get registered to vote in this fall's elections.

Dean's trip began Thursday in President Bush's hometown of Crawford, Texas, riding an eye-catching bus wrapped in the red, white and blue of presidential candidate Barack Obama's campaign logo.

Dean said in a telephone interview that he over the course of a southern tour, he will focus on winning over people who are struggling economically.

"We think that they have been disillusioned," said Dean, a former Vermont governor and presidential candidate in 2004. "Many of them voted for George Bush. We think they want something new and we're going to provide it for them."

2. Hillary backers confronted Dean in NC,still want the nomination put to a vote in Denver

The demonstrators, mostly women, were protesting a rumored decision not to put Clinton's name in nomination at next month's Democratic convention in Denver. At one point, Dean was drowned out by shouts of “I own my vote!”

“I'm gonna let these folks shout a little bit because I can't hear you folks,” Dean said, pausing.

“There will be a roll call vote at the convention if Hillary Clinton wants one,” he continued. “We all respect each other and we certainly respect Sen. Clinton. This is a unified party. It is not easy to be on the losing side, and I know ... because four years ago, I was on the losing side.”
