McCain has spot of skin removed as precaution
Source: AP

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Three-time melanoma survivor John McCain had a spot of skin removed from his right cheek early Monday that he said would undergo a biopsy as a precaution.

The Republican presidential candidate told reporters he had his routine three-month check up with his dermatologist.

"She said that I was doing fine, took a small little nick from my cheek, as she does regularly, and that will be biopsied just to make sure that everything is fine," he said.

McCain sported a small bandage near his right temple as he campaigned in California, and wore a baseball cap as he talked with reporters. He encouraged people to stay out of the sun, and wear sunscreen as much as possible to prevent melanoma.

"If you ever have any slight discoloration, please go to your dermatologist or your doctor and get it checked up on," he said.

14. If this is melanoma it's at least his fifth time at bat
The pathology tests that will be performed early next week are crucial because if the cancer is confined to the skin, as preliminary tests earlier in the week and today indicated, Mr. McCain's prognosis will be as favorable as it was after the malignant melanoma was removed from his left shoulder in 1993. Mr. McCain received no therapy beyond surgical removal of the shoulder melanoma, and doctors have pronounced him cured of it.

Melanoma raises the biggest health concerns. McCain has had four separate spots of melanoma removed from his head and arm on three occasions -- in 1993, 2000 and 2002. Three spots were very early stage, when they were in the uppermost skin surface and easily cut out.

But one, on his left temple in 2000, was invasive melanoma, what doctors call an "intermediate risk" melanoma because of its thickness -- 2.2 millimeters. McCain required surgery to remove and examine lymph nodes that showed no sign of spread.

11. I have exactly the same spot in the same place from a removal last Friday.
But, then again, I have never had a melanoma (only basal and squamous cell carcinomas). Looks like a scraping .. no sutures that I can see.

17. "If you ever have any slight discoloration...
...please go to your dermatologist or your doctor and get it checked up on," he said.

Unless you're one of the 50 million or so Americans without health care. Then, instead of seeing your dermatologist or doctor, please just go drop dead.

Another example of just how out of touch McCain is. McCain must think we're all like him; married to a multi-millionaire, collecting $165,000 in salary as a senator with the best free health care benefits OUR taxpayer dollars can buy, AND all while he collects over $58,000 a year in "DISGRACEFUL" Social Security and disability benefits.

Yet McCain had no problem voting against expanding health care for the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. And McCain's idea of reforming health care is providing tax credits to people who can't afford to pay for health care to begin with.

TYPICAL HEARTLESS, GREEDY, ELITIST REPUBLICAN.

McCain's repeated bouts with melanoma would be a death sentence for millions of Americans. "Ditto" that evil bastard Cheney's heart problems. But in a true sign of where their priorities really are, what's good enough for them is too good for us.

Cuz, after all, didn't they say something about the car roof being lower in Canada than what he was used to in the US?
