Gov. Palin: Premature to call for Stevens' resignation
Source: Anchorage Daily News

JUNEAU - Gov. Sarah Palin today said indicted U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens "has dedicated his life to the betterment of the state" and said she couldn't say yet whether he should resign.

Speaking to reporters in her Capitol office at 12:30 p.m., Palin said the federal indictment "rocks the foundation of our state."

Asked whether Stevens should quit the Senate, Palin said she hadn't had a chance to fully read the 28-page indictment and said it "would be premature at this point" to call for Stevens to resign, as she did in the case of state Sen. John Cowdery, R-Anchorage, after he was recently indicted on federal charges including bribery.

I agree. Much better to let this drag out through the November election...

1. "We're waiting for something like a diaper-sex-with-hookers scandal..." - Palin

"...so Teddy-boy will have perversion- parity with the other Republicon Senators. Ripping off the public till is just not, well, republicon enough. This matter needs more good, old-fashioned republicon homelander kink."

- Palin

2. Didn't the Pubs say if "indicted" they would resign? Renenber,
back when Delay was dodging accusation arrows every day! When he was indicted in Tx, HE QUIT! What's changed now? Just because the guy's old?

5. What? No crying jags on the Senate floor?
No, foot-stomping (tapping?) tirades à la "I am tho not gay! I'm not I'm not I'm NOT" (as if we'd suffer a fool like Craig in our midst!)

Not even a little "Ah have seeyunned?"

No, "Uh, I've got bugs to kill and books to sell in Texas?"

No standing O's from the Viagra wing of the Ye Olde Pharts de DeLay et Cie, LLC, DC Chapter?

Not so much as the tired and true "I suddenly need to 'spend more time with my family'"?

Bupkes. No resignation, no whines, no sudden scatters or moves by anyone.

It's like someone farted in church. Everyone heard it. Everyone knows what general direction it came from. More than one person is sitting in the middle of it. One is really guilty, several are complicit in hiding the crime and seemingly everyone is willing to say very little or nothing about it yet.

Except those of us who are snickering like hell up here in the choirloft.
