McCain ads assailing Obama get wider free exposure as news
Source: IHT

WASHINGTON: The number of times Senator John McCain's new advertisement attacking Senator Barack Obama for canceling a visit with wounded troops in Germany last week has been shown fully or partly on local, national and cable television newscasts: well into the hundreds.

The number of times that spot actually ran as a paid commercial: roughly a dozen.

Result for McCain: a public relations coup that allowed the Republican to show his toughest campaign advertisement of the year - one widely panned as misleading - to millions of people, largely free, through television news media hungry for political news with arresting visual imagery.

(snip)

"For McCain, it's the cheapest and most efficient way to keep himself in the game when he's up against a candidate who's essentially going to have unlimited funds," said Kenneth Goldstein, director of the Advertising Project.

Try to tell me the news media isn't in the tank for McShame. Free advertising for ads based on lies. You may say that both campaigns submit ads to the news media. When have you seen an Obama ad played over and over and over and over beginning to end? Admittedly, I do not watch TV 24/7, but I have yet to see one.

1. If I Said It, It Would Be a Lie
I nearly fell out of my chair the first time Obama was mentioned (with picture!) on or local paper.

I think it was March or April of this year. They couldn't hide from the oncoming reality any more.

2. Is the MSM vying the Congress for the most corrupt, venal, disingenuous, and
mendacious entity? :P

4. I'm glad someone else finally noticed this activity - albeit in a foreign news source
because I only get one channel - it's local and fuzzy and A(lways)B(roadcasting)C(rap) and if Snarly Gibson and Georgie Stafflococcus don't quit fawning all over McInsane, I'm going to :puke:

13. I noticed this a lot in 2004...
...That nasty swiftboat ad was shown almost 24/7 on cable "news' shows.

5. Lies, Sleaze, Swiftboating.
If America doesn't reject this, we haven't learned a damn thing and we will pay for it dearly.

6. They make fun of it every time they show it, at least on MSNBC.
Every single time I have seen that ad, someone has pointed out within the next ten seconds that it is filled with lies from beginning to end and that the video snippet showing O "at the gym instead of being with the troops" actually is a military video showing him playing basketball with the troops.

I'm sure the coverage on Fox Noise is different, but I never watch Fox Noise.

9. That only started after Ms. Greenspan poohed on the ad on Monday.
All weekend long, it was played on every newscast, and it was going to "really hurt" the Obama campaign. All weekend long, it was "Obama didn't want to visit the troops without the cameras." All weekend long, it was "Obama should have visited the troops anyway." Even on MSNBC. The lies were not apparent to them until Andrea Mitchell pointed them out.

Free advertising for McShame's lies.

7. Repubs know Swift Boat anti-Kerry ad worked the same way in 2004
The Swift Boat ad was only placed in a limited area, but the media ran it over and over saturating the public in all 50 states and the media failed to make it clear that the allegations against Kerry regarding his Vietnam combat service were false.

8. "it's the cheapest and most efficient way..."
It also gives him the "plausible deniability" excuse. I can hear him already:

"I'm not running these ads, the media's running them. I have no control over what ads the media chooses to run."

11. Same pattern of corrupt practices repeated each election cycle.
The astounding level of corruption of our republic by what can best be described as a loose cabal of corporate interests is, to say the least, disturbing. Generally this sort of entanglement is only dis-entangled through a systemic crackup such as the great depression of 1929, or even worse disasters.

They played that ad once an hour for the four hours they were on in the morning. Then once again in ever segment on the evening news. So eight times per day for Sat and Sunday.

14. Big media is campaigning for McSame. But, come the revolution,
they will get theirs. Read about the trial of hate radio in Rwanda. Goebbels suffered the same fate as the rest of the Nazis, and Couric, Gibson, and the entire cabal will not be spared when the 4th Reich comes down.

15. One way to counter this
is for a 527 to run an ad saying in Fox News Speak "Some people are saying many members of the Republican Party and its presidential candidate practice coprophagia."

16. Ad Time Costs US A Million Dollars a Minute. Repigs Get Most of Their Ad Time FREE!
Our supposed advantage in fundraising is completely swamped by all the free airtime the MSM gives the Repigs.

We would have to raise 10 BILLION DOLLARS just to stay even with them (if the MSM would sell us that much ad time, which they wouldn't).
