Cheney key to Iraq probe, critics say
<snip>
By Jonathan S. Landay, Warren P. Strobel and Joseph L. Galloway
Inquirer Washington Bureau

WASHINGTON - What went wrong with intelligence on Iraq may never be known unless the inquiry proposed by President Bush examines secret intelligence efforts led by Vice President Cheney and Pentagon hawks, current and former U.S. officials said yesterday.

1. You're getting hotter, you're getting hotter...
You're boiling!

Cheney is the key. I think he disappeared after 9/11 because he was guilty as hades.

10. On target critics are drowned out,...
,...or, at least, they certainly have been for the last couple of years. Even critical analyses of issues facing this country are treated as simply a form of political dissent (which, as we all know is now dismissively deemed unpatriotic, disloyal and treasonous). I suppose persistence by critical minds will be the only quality which overcomes the intentional betrayal by those who are "ruling" our country.

3. Cheney and OSP are the key
to Iraq probe. But of course W's independent investigation will spend millions of dollars distracting us from the real issue, that it didn't matter whether or not the Intel was good or bad, they were going to invade Iraq no matter what anyone did or said to stop them.

11. The OSP has not been mentioned much (til recently) in the general
media. It is important to note how often it gets refered to now - as it is then more likely to penetrate the public psyche. If it penetrates the public psyche, then any 'independent investigation' on WMD intelligence that does not focus on (or even mention) OSP will be widely recognized in the public as a sham. The thing is, that I don't think much of the public is aware (yet) of this office. I am glad to see it here. It was mentioned in the flurry of articles around the statements released by Karen Kiatowski. Those also hit the mainstream. Of course the most indepth discussion was in Hirsh's Stovepipe article in THe NewYorker (october?) - but that is not widely read by the general public.

Note when it is present. Talk it up. When writing LTEs mention it. The OSP HAS to become part of the national dialogue.

14. I've got a Seymour Hersh article about the OSP and selective intelligence
here it is from The New Yorker
http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?030512fa_fact

Also have an article titled "The Pentagon Muzzles The CIA" by Robert Dreyfuss published in December 2002
from Prospect detailing some of the realpolitik used by OSP and the neo-conservative traitors following PNAC IMO

17. great additional links
I did a google search - and the article from this thread shows up in a slew of Knight Ridder newspapers around the country. Now we just have to get the news casters to start saying the word allowed. Then we feed the more indepth articles to doubters...

5. The inquiry itself is a coverup
What went wrong with the intelligence? Fraud from the executive office. Everyone who follows this knows it. Calling for an inquiry is saying to the world we don't know that the regime is lying, cheating, theiving fraud. The inquiry itself is a fraud.

9. Finally the press picks this up
The information about Cheney's Office of Special Plans has been out there for over a year, but this is the first I've seen it mentioned in the press since Kay quit and started talking.

Of course this is just the print press. Think we'll ever hear the OSP mentioned on mainstream TV news?

13. Bush will charge the panel what to investigate.
it will not include the White House, the Pentagon or the OSP.
This is ballsy because now he can refuse to answer any charges by the Democrat Candidate in debates saying he can't comment on something currently being investigated!
he just took his lying to America off of the debate list.

If he knew in MAY that there were no WMD in Iraq (this is shortly after taking Baghdad, remember?) WHY did he sent in David kay and 1400 WMD inspectors at the cost of tens of millions of dollars?
kay was Bush*s attack dog on Scott Ritter and Hans Blix. Kay had stated unequivocably that he knew WMD were in Iraq and they would be found.

Why send in a man to find what you know is not there? Could it be so that in January, 2004 he'd hold a press conference and state it is not the President's fault, but the fault of our intelligence Agencies and it should be looked into? The President initially rebuffs the calls for an investigation, then announces one and now he can stay silent about why he lied and caused the deaths of tens of thousands of human beings.

16. Bush/Chaney lied. What will we tell the children?
How do we explain to the children that both the president and vice-president (now there's a title that fits) lied to us so they could fight a war they wanted to fight?
