McMinnville plant plans closure, layoff of 1,300 (Tennessee)

1,300 jobs will soon be gone, all in McMinnville. The Carrier Corporation is closing its factory in Warren County at the end of 2005.

All 1,300 people who work in the plant will be laid off.

That's 1300 people who need to vote in the Dem Primary on Tuesday.

You're talking about a rural Tennessee county where the cash crop is pot and 13 year olds drive around in new pickup trucks that papaw paid cash for.

I would really be surprised if the election day turnout % is any better than a typical local primary here.

7. That's because...
...Williamson Co. has Franklin, Brentwood, Spring Hill and Fairview, all close to Nashville.

Warren Co. has, well...McMinnville. Pop., approx 13000, and is in the middle of them thar hills.

We're struggling with 32% Dems here and half of those are elderly farmer types.
