Thousands gather for RNC protest
Source: Yahoo

About 10,000 protesters waving peace sign flags rallied at the state Capitol on Monday before an anti-war march to the Republican National Convention site. Hundreds of police wearing bulletproof vests and carrying billy clubs stood by.

Preparing for disruptions from a self-described anarchist group, officers in riot gear were stationed along the march route.

The anarchist group, known as the RNC Welcoming Committee, was targeted in police searches over the weekend that resulted in six arrests. The group, which did not organize Monday's march, said in a written statement that it was "moving forward with a national call to crash the convention."

At the rally, a 25-foot-long ice sculpture rose 3 feet in the air and spelled "Democracy." Some protesters flew kites, waved American and peace-sign flags and carried homemade anti-war signs.

8. Seems like an odd thing to do but on the other hand quite apropos
as being symbolic of the current state of our democratic republic.

Our democracy if you will has been melting under the heat of the current autocratic administration's all but burning of our Constitution.

3. This could be good...
Wouldn't it be funny if there were more protesters than actual convention goers? Considering this ticket, it is a possibility!

Kilo Kai Rum is doing creative advertising ...

see the article and the ad -(Promo Magazine)

http://promomagazine.com/news/rum_campaign_twin_cities_political_scandal_0902/

Republican conventions are known for being tightly scripted, unsurprising and pretty bland, and signs indicate this week’s gathering in St. Paul, MN, won’t break that basic mold. But upstart rum brand Kilo Kai hopes to throw a little swerve into the party’s stride this week with a guerrilla promotion that takes aim at a political sex scandal well known in the Twin Cities.

The spiced rum brand and its agency All Terrain sent teams out Monday to place promotional footprints in the public bathrooms of hotels, bars and nightspots around the Twin Cities and also around the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, where the 2008 Republican National Convention is being held this week. The footprints ask stall occupants to “Tap your toe if you want to hook up with Kilo Kai.”
