Palin inspires women to vote for Democrats
Source: The Australian

MOST US women are unimpressed by Republican John McCain's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, and have thrown their weight behind the Democratic ticket in the race for the White House, a national poll showed today.

Six in 10 women voters see McCain's choice of a female running mate as a calculated political decision rather than one based on Palin's experience and qualities, the poll conducted by the Garin-Hart-Yang Research Group showed.

“Women voters see the choice of Governor Palin as being driven by politics rather than by any sense of conviction on Senator McCain's part that she has the experience and qualities to make a good vice-president,” the research group said in a statement.

A majority of the 800 women polled - 56 per cent - said they were put off by Palin's legislative record and her position on moral issues, such as abortion.

“When women voters learn that Palin opposes abortion even in cases of rape and incest, opposes stem cell research and, as governor, opposed funding for state pre-kindergarten programs... a majority say... (they) feel less favourable toward her,” the poll showed.

They've seen how the Repukes (in general) think women are just there to be props, and that this is no exception to the rule.

P.S. If he'd chosen someone serious like Olympia Snowe, I wonder if she would have let him give her a big hug onstage.

The one in the blue must be Cousin Itt, or possibly Lurch. Any of the others could be Wednesday, but where is Pugsley, and Thing? No, not the baby. The others just don't belong - wrong house on trick-or-treat night I guess.

10. That picture...
They look like the cast of a sitcom...

"TONIGHT... John and Cindy finally talk about his attraction to Sarah, Todd blissfully focuses on the upcoming snowmachine race, Meghan tries to keep Roberta from the press, and Bristol secretly plots to change her name to Shelly. All this and more familial exploitation tonight, on 'THE MAVERICKS'!"

Eh... it won't last a single season...

17. Most US women voters 'unimpressed' by McCain's VP pick
Source: raw Story

WASHINGTON - Most US women are unimpressed by Republican John McCain's choice of Alaska Governor Sarah Palin as his running mate, and have thrown their weight behind the Democratic ticket in the race for the White House, a national poll showed Wednesday.

Six in 10 women voters see McCain's choice of a female running mate as a calculated political decision rather than one based on Palin's experience and qualities, showed the poll conducted by the Garin-Hart-Yang Research Group.

Garin-Hart-Yang caters to a Democratic clientele. Claims the company's Web site: "Garin-Hart-Yang has a strong record of helping Democratic candidates win under the most difficult circumstances..."

"Women voters see the choice of Governor Palin as being driven by politics rather than by any sense of conviction on Senator McCain's part that she has the experience and qualities to make a good vice president," the research group said in a statement.

18. McSame's age factor
It's a macabre point (redacted) - but a look at the actuarial tables insurance companies use to evaluate customers shows that it's not an irrelevant one. According to these statistics, there is a roughly 1 in 3 chance that a 72-year-old man will not reach the age of 80, which is how old McCain would be at the end of a second presidential term. And that doesn't factor in individual medical history, such as McCain's battles with potentially lethal skin cancer.
...

The odds of a 72-year-old man living four more years, or one full White House term, are better. But for a man who has lived 72 years and 67 days (McCain's age on Election Day this year), there is between a 14.2 and 15.1 percent chance of dying before Inauguration Day 2013, according to the Social Security Administration's 2004 actuarial tables and the authoritative 2001 mortality statistics assembled by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners.

Going by the Social Security Administration's tables, that's nearly ten times the likelihood that a man aged 47 years and 92 days (Barack Obama's age on Election Day this year) will die before Jan. 20, 2013.

McLame underestimated them, as always. We are not going to vote for a candidate simply because she's female. We know a politically-based decision when we see it!

21. Not only are women not stupid
In my direct experience, most career women over 40 have had their careers trampled over more than once by Palin's type. They're always running about 2 weeks ahead of their scandals, getting massive promotions every 2 years or so and leaving a trail of disasters behind. Most married women over 50 fear for their marriages to younger Palin types. For every one of Palin, there are a half dozen or more women who would rip her face of if they could get away with it, and deservedly so. I still think as she gets better known, she will scare off at least as many women as she attracts men. Some men will see through her too, and not like her.

She reminds very much of 2 women in my career. The first stole a raise from me and redirected it to a friend of hers. She was caught and the company made her give me my raise retroactively out of her budget. Some of her other antics caused the company for the first time to lose an employee lawsuit and she was forced out.

The 2nd was a 30-something rw kristian konservative daughter of company owners. She even has Palin's grating, nails on chalkboard, voice. They lied to me in my job interview, deliberately and knowingly poisoned me with contaminated well water, had employees bully and harrass me at work, had an employee harrass me in my home by phone on weekends and ultimately had an employee invite herself to my home where she assaulted a newly weaned sweet and timid filly and then assault my elderly gelding when he tried to reassure and help the baby. At which point I quit and threatened them with criminal charges if they ever came near my home again.

23. women don't generally like "pitbull" type females
who would stomp on them to get where they want.

I'm sorry that you went through that. People like that deserve to be locked up and I have a feeling that Palin is not far off from that kind of behavior.

30. Right. I busted my ass to get where I am
and still watched promotion after promotion go to male colleagues with half my credentials who sleep and look up porn on the internet all day.

I categorically did not get where I am today because I was a woman and it pisses me off to see anyone get a promotion based on their genital configuration (whether they be innies or outies).

26. Message to teenagers
What do you think many teenagers will think about her unmarried pregnant daughter and her boyfriend being treated like royalty? Rather than having her stay out of the spot light, it appears that the girl and her boyfriend are being congratulated for their reckless and irresponsible behavior. Is this the new GOP Family Values agenda?
