McCain camp says Biden 'sunk to a new low'
Source: CNN

John McCain's campaign hit back hard at Joe Biden Tuesday after the Democratic VP candidate appeared to suggest Republicans who do not support stem cell research — like GOP VP candidate Sarah Palin — are lacking in their support of children with disabilities.

“Barack Obama’s running mate sunk to a new low today launching an offensive debate over who cares more about special needs children," McCain-Palin spokesman Ben Porritt said. "Playing politics with this issue is disturbing and indicative of a desperate campaign."

The sharp response, indicative of the increasingly heated rhetoric from both presidential campaigns as the election enters the final stretch, came shortly after Biden said advocates for people with disabilities should support stem cell research.

Biden did not mention Palin — the mother of a baby with Down syndrome, and someone who has said she will be a “friend and advocate in the White House" to parents of children with disabilities — but seemed to direct a question to her. ...

21. My favorite comment
from fixthebroken

"This has gotten ridiculous….so, let's see where we are at:

Palin has a child with Down's Syndrome — can't talk about stem cell research to find cures for birth defects and disease

Palin is a woman — can't talk about abortion

Palin is Palin — can't talk about anything!!!!!!
....."

23. My personal favorite:
i just think that the Obama/Biden-team is history. that was offensive to everybody and dictates all parents an idea that they might not share.

be careful Biden

Rob

"Dictates to all parents an idea they might not share"? You mean like abstinence only education and banning abortion?

"Be careful Biden"

Obama is now the new Hillary. Sees it slipping away, and coming across panicked and pressed. What does he mean "how can they make up things". He makes up things all the time!

Yes, it's just hunky-dory okay fine for the reTHUGs to blatantly lie, smear, distort, and attack on everything large and small -- but any time a Democrat speaks an uncomfortable truth about anything, it's "playing politics" or a "new low."

What filthy, disgusting liars and hypocrites reTHUGs are!

43. This is a QUESTION, OK?
It is NOT intended as trolling or flamebait.

I am curious as to how stem-cell research would benefit people who are born with Down Syndrome or other various 'special needs' that come directly from the chromosomes not separating properly at the meiotic stage.
Gene pair # 21 isn't the only one that is subject to trisomy...other sites give rise to other 'syndromes'...but none of them are what you'd call beneficial.

Just wondering what stem cells can do to alleviate the difficulties caused by this.

..and YES, I am in favor of stem-cell research

I don't want to sound cold, but she has has a disabled child for 4 months. Talk about lack of experience, she doesn't know shit about being the parent of a disabled child, because if she did, she would know that the reptilian party has blocked damn near every piece of legislation for the people with disabilities that have ever been considered. So now the bastards are claiming that Biden is playing politics with the issue, all I can say is that they have allot of god damn gall!

which campaign is avoiding the issues? and which campaign is sheltering their ignorant VP?

And yes, by not funding Stem Cell research, you are in fact killing the hope of finding major cures for very devastating diseases. But fundi nuts will not fund it because it could lead to a cure for HIV/AIDS and that is gawds punishment for 'the gays'.
