Palin hasn't pushed her anti-abortion beliefs as governor
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 02:45 PM by BlueJessamine
Source: McClatchy Washington Bureau

Gov. Sarah Palin is about as anti-abortion as a politician can be, and crusaders on the issue say they can't imagine a better candidate. Abortion-rights advocates say just the opposite.

Yet she has not pushed that agenda in her nearly two years as governor. She backed a couple of anti-abortion bills that died in the state Legislature during the regular session, but didn't add them to the agenda during special sessions this summer.

Anti-abortion activists say she's done plenty simply by standing on the national stage with her new baby, Trig, born in April with Down syndrome.

The article goes on to say that Palin hid her pregnancy from the public until she was about seven months along and didn't reveal the diagnosis until three days after Trig was born.

Palin revealed Trig's diagnosis to relatives and close friends by sending a letter she wrote in the voice of God.

"I let Trig's mom and dad find out before he was born that this little boy will truly be a gift," Palin wrote, signing it "Trig's Creator, Your Heavenly Father."

The more we learn about Sarah Palin and PALINOCRACY is all the more reason that she needs to be asked if she believes in the Seperation of Church and State.

5. "...a letter she wrote in the voice of God"
That. Is. Astonishing.
But not really surprising.
That tells you everything you need to know about both her egomania and insanity.

3. What's your point? Yeah, she's all about "choice", as long as it's her's.
She would, however, like for every other woman in America to forfeit THEIR choice, even in the case of rape of incest. But thanks for playing "Current Wingnut Talking Points."

4. She backed anti-abortion legislation? Then that's pushing your anti-abortion beliefs--
even if you don't hold a "special summer session".

15. regardless of whether a person supports abortion rights or not
which do you think the average voter will go for

someone who supports parental notification and opposes late term abortions

or

someone who opposes late term abortions and supports late term abortions

Doesn't matter how we feel, matters how the rest of the people feel.

We win and lose at the margins and this article gives them an excuse to believe Palin isn't that bad. Still an excuse but given the level of racism that still exists in this country that's all McSame needs - enough people finding an excuse to not vote for the black man.

6. Why hid the pregnancy?
If you are pro-life, and are accepting of all children, especially the disabled, why hid being pregnant? The women I know loved being pregnant and wanted to share it. I have a friend with a Down Syndrome son, she knew early on, decided to continue the pregnancy, which she states was her "CHOICE." She still loved being pregnant.

Seems to me that Gov Palin did not want to be pregnant, and was most unhappy with her situation! Which explains why you don't find many pictures with her holding Trig, or even looking at him. My mother made note of this the other day.

9. Because so many women, and particularly fundy women, are so modest about their pregnancies
Actually, aren't UNWED TEENAGE GIRLS the only ones who do try to hide their pregnancies?

7. What do they mean by "pushed"?
According to the story, she backed at least two anti-abortion bills, but was thwarted by the legislature. By "pushed," do they mean that she hasn't shut down every reproductive health clinic in the state by executive fiat? Would that be "pushing" her views? How does it not "push" her views to publicly back bills in the legislature?

This is Sloppy Writing 101 designed to pacify the masses. "See? She's not as extremist as those extremists say she is! So they must be extremists, because the Lovely Sarah hasn't 'pushed' her agenda. Much."

12. This is the "Miracle Baby' syndrome...
I believe it is the only way many parents can get through the birth of a non typical child.
Fine by me..now here are the statistics:

1 in nearly every 800 births are Downs' Syndrome babies. This syndrome is an equal opportunity
event. The syndrome can present itself from severe retardation to barely evident in genotype
and phenotype.

One of the mother's of one of my students with Downs' Syndrome said it best..."Well, he should
be able to do everything that a typical young man can do..except drive a car."

14. Okay - I'm confused
She didn't reveal the Downs until 3 days after birth. The story I heard is that she knew before the birth that Trig had Downs. It didn't make sense to me at the time because I wondered why she would even bother to have an amnio or any other potentially harmful diagnostic test if she would continue with the pregnancy regardless. So how did she know she was having a Downs baby?

And writing a letter using G-d's voice. That's just creepy.

16. Palin would have your 13 year old daughter who got raped thrown in jail.
Palin makes absolutely no exceptions for the health of the mother or the circumstances of the pregnancy.

If that little girl should not want to give birth to the monster's child, Palin would have her thrown in jail if the girl tried to get rid of the monster's baby.

This is what she wants to do. She wants all mothers, who dare think twice about bringing into the world another child, thrown into jail.

The child mother who got raped by her father or brother will be sent off to jail for daring to think she could end her nine months of agony. She will force a small girl to live knowing that the spawn of a monster is growing every day in her womb.

This Sarah Palin woman is a heartless brute. She wants to decide for all women from now until eternity what they should do. She wants to continue the torture that a rapist monster started.

18. Do not be fooled. I predicted this. After the convention we would be told "It's ok. She isn't really
all that opposed to Roe v. Wade."

They will say the same thing about McCain. So that they can court women's votes.

21. McClatchy Minimizes Record
Edited on Tue Sep-09-08 04:40 PM by bmcdaniel9
Palin pushes her beliefs down our throats through her
appointees. She HAS appointed a justice to the Alaska Supreme
Court and will appoint another in 2009.

SP passed over highly regarded nominees including an
exceptional female superior court judge for the AK S.C.
vacancy in favor of a little-known, male, Fairbanks lawyer,
Daniel Winfree. Like Chief Justice Roberts, Justice Winfree
has never been a judge before and has no judicial opinions to
give insight into his thinking. A Fairbanks friend described
him as a member of "The Catholic Mafia." We expect
Alaska now has a three-justice, conservative majority on our
Supreme Court. When the prior court ruled last year that the
state's effort to demand parental consent for abortions was
unconstitutional, Palin called it "outrageous," and
put her appointed Attorney General to task to request a
rehearing, the next time with her her new appointee on board.

Her Wasilla appointee to fill disgraced AK Rep. Vic Kohring,
Wes Keller, sponsored a bill to overturn the S.C. decision in
the matter. The bill died in May for lack of support. And it
is widely believed that Palin declined Sen. Lyda Green's
request (SP's Republican nemesis), to add the abortion issues
to the special session agenda so that Lyda could not get
credit in her backwoods, back-wards Mat-Su District, helping
SP's anti-choice buddy, Linda Menard, win the bulk of the
anti-choice vote, which is obviously strong in Wasilla. Lyda
dropped out of the primary race against Menard shortly after
that.

In my ten-year observation, Palin's political career has been
motivated by a "calling from God" to position
herself to appoint conservative decision-makers, find work
where she can "hire good people" to make up for her
lack of work experience, and get good-paying work that affords
the flexibility and support all moms who attempt to balance
work and parenting need.
