US: Venezuelan officials aided drug traffickers 4 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - The United States has accused two senior Venezuelan government officials of aiding drug traffickers in Colombia.

They are Hugo Armando Carvajal Barrios and Henry de Jesus Rangel Silva, both high ranking intelligence officials. A former government minister, Ramon Emilio Rodriguez Chacin, was also named.

The U.S. Treasury said Friday the three materially assisted the narcotics trafficking activities of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC, describing the leftist group as a narco-terrorist organization.

3. Nothing to wonder -
there are those on this board whose dicks get hard at the thought of a war with Venezuela. So they post stupid propaganda like this.

I look forward to these threads, though, because our more intelligent and passionate posters, who know what the hell they're talking about, usually check in to slap the fools down.

5. So, they are helping the CIA? That's a good thing, right.
What bullshit propaganda.

The narco-terrorists are the CIA and their fascist fellow travelers.

They just don't want the competition from the leftists.

6. Why does your post say "Source: yahoo news"?
Edited on Fri Sep-12-08 10:09 AM by redqueen
I can't find that on the linked page... it clearly says "AP".

And it seems pretty obvious that Yahoo is just showing the AP snippet.

in their effort to spin it as no big deal. Transparent as hell.

And it makes the prominent "Source: yahoo news" claim pretty transparent too.

Mainly because AP is a corrupt right-wing toady shill.

25. It would be no surprise if there were corrupt officials in Venezuela.
The profits from black market drug trafficking are enormous, and so are the temptations. In fact, I would be shocked if there weren't Venezuelan officials working with traffickers. That's been the case in all the other Latin American countries.

The US claims that one-quarter of South American cocaine exports go through Venezuela. What is left unsaid is that the other three-quarters is going through Central America, Mexico, and the Caribbean countries.

33. You're right.
If you're the US and you're a hypocrite, you can criticize any country in Latin America for drug trafficking if you want; it's all political. I think this is the run-up to "decertifying" Venezuela as not cooperating with US drug policy prerogatives. We decertify our political foes and certify our friends...

28.  SO WHAT ?
The U.S. government is the biggest narco-terrorist organization in the Middle East. Actively encouraging the continuance of opium production to appease the warlords in Afghanistan. Source of 90% of the world's supply of heroin. Another example of U.S. bullshit.

32. They are targeting intelligence officers after Venezuelan intelligence uncovered a coup plot?
Mr Carvajal Barrios is a military intelligence director who has protected Farc drug shipments from seizure, claimed the US statement.

Mr Rangel Silva is another intelligence chief who had pushed for greater co-operation between Venezuela and the Farc, the US Treasury alleged.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/7612778.stm

Wow.

That is the best confirmation yet that the plot was real.
