McCain stem cell ad doesn't mention Palin's opposition; her position on "back burner" for campaign
Source: CNN

WASILLA, Alaska (CNN) – Sarah Palin is putting her opposition to stem cell research on the back burner for the sake of the Republican ticket.

John McCain's campaign released a radio ad Friday that calls he and Palin "mavericks" who will, if elected, back stem cell research "to help free families from the fear and devastation of illness."

"Medical breakthroughs to help you get better, faster," says the radio ad, which according to the campaign is running in key battleground states. "Change is coming. McCain, Palin and congressional allies. The leadership and experience to really change Washington and improve your health."

McCain and his campaign have said the senator supports research that uses stem cells, including the embyronic variety. But Palin does not....

2. I think the fundie Jesus Christers should be up in arms
about this. What about the sanctity of life...blah blah. Back burner? COuld you imagine if Biden had views 180 degrees from Obama? The media would eat them alive.

This needs to be an advertisement run in the rural areas.

3. That's probably why it's on the radio.
Smaller audience, and likely not on any station that a fundie would listen to.

We can hope, though, that some of them might accidentally hear it and start becoming conflicted about their desire to have Roe v Wade overturned and their opposition to stem cell research...

5. She Needs To Be NAILED On This Issue

Believe me, there are plenty of Republicans who think Bush's stance on stem cell research was unforgivable....

7. Palin is a flaming liberal in conservatives clothing.
She's not in McCain's face with jars full of dead babies on stem cell research. Her daughter got pregnant out of wedlock. Sarah's even smoked pot and ruined her mind forever. Now it's time to use these fact to mess with the conservatives. She's a flaming liberal pretending to be a conservative to make fools out of them. JUST LIKE THE RADICAL BUSH DID.

9. This needs to be strategically exploited for political gain.
And yes, it needs to be a little "dirty", but not unlawful or deceitful. Just tell the truth about their respective stances, in areas where it will hurt them.

Highlight McCain's FAVOR towards Stem Cell research in TV ads in states, especially swing states, where the majority oppose SCR.

Highlight Palin's DISLIKE of SCR in TV ads in states, again hopefully swing ones, where the majority supports SCR.

Use their opposing stances against them.

10. yeah, she's another 'maverick' bucking her party to stand on principle! LMAO
he's always talking about how both of them have bucked their party to stand for what is right....unless they need to win an election. And we should trust that she wouldn't change her mind if McGoo dies in office and she ascends?....yeah sure.

12. The religious right doesn't mind
They figure that it will just give God a reason to smite McCain after he takes office and put Palin in charge of Jesusland - it's all part of a divine plan.
