Democrats: GOP should support drilling compromise (radio address)
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 11:41 AM by cal04
Source: Associated Press

Democrats sought on Saturday to drum up support for compromise legislation on offshore drilling, challenging Republicans to break from Bush administration policies that neglect development of alternative energy sources.

Enough is enough," Sen. Ken Salazar of Colorado said in the Democrats' weekly radio address, citing rising energy prices, including $4-a-gallon diesel fuel.

Salazar chastised Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, and other Senate Republicans who have blocked and opposed tax incentives for renewable energy.

"President Bush and Sen. McCain have failed to show any leadership on this issue for the last eight years," Salazar said. "Republicans have to decide whether they just want to talk about our energy problems on the campaign trail, or whether they will work with Democrats to actually solve them."

trail. They can not do anything to actually solve things because that would not be in the interest of their corporate masters.

2. if we drill in ANWAR, the oil co's will sell the oil to China, or whoever.
Edited on Sat Sep-13-08 11:56 AM by grahamhgreen
All the oil companies said - in testimony to congress - that if we drill in ANWAR, they will sell the oil to China, or whoever.

This policy simply will not reduce the cost of gas in America.

End of argument. Can someone above my pay-grade repeat this often?

If we keep allowing the Neo-cons to frame the narrative, we all lose.

Options are:

+ Renewable energy program suggested by Gore.

+ Creating a new citizen owned oil company that we all profit from as shareholders, and excluding the multi-nationals who are screwing us over.

4. That will also put more money in Palin's Pockets with Alaskan Dividend checks.
So she has a vested personal interest in drilling ANWAR.

5. The sex & drugs for oil scandal figures into this how?
The aperatus that manages these resources has had a monkey wrench thrown in it by the chimp's lack of oversight. But Bush isn't really working for America. That's no secret. Shouldn't that be fixed before starting new projects that will produce new losses in revenue.
