Obama camp jumps on Greenspan interview to attack McCain

CHICAGO (AFP) — Barack Obama's White House campaign Saturday seized on a warning from former Federal Reserve boss Alan Greenspan about John McCain's tax plans to portray the Republican as economically reckless.
In an interview with Bloomberg Television Friday, the legendary ex-chairman of the US central bank said the nation could not afford 3.3 trillion dollars of tax cuts proposed by McCain without matching cuts in spending. Greenspan, a long-time friend of McCain and a Republican, said about the Arizona senator's plans to extend massive tax cuts imposed by President George W. Bush: "I'm not in favor of financing tax cuts with borrowed money."
McCain has said he would pay for his cuts by ending pet funding projects for US lawmakers' districts known as "earmarks."

But Senator Claire McCaskill said that would save no more than 17 billion dollars and was a "drop in the bucket," expressing frustration that "no one is holding John McCain's feet to the fire" on how he would pay for his cuts. "It's time for John McCain to back up his claim of honor by being honest with the American people on how he's going to pay for his plan," she said on a media call. "That's what Alan Greenspan was talking about yesterday." Obama is promising to cut taxes for 95 percent of all working Americans, and accuses McCain of distorting his own proposals by running advertisements that claim most voters would pay higher taxes under an Obama administration.

The Democrat says he would be fiscally responsible and match the cuts with an array of revenue measures.

The measures include higher taxes on those earning more than 250,000 dollars a year, ending the war in Iraq and so saving 10 billion dollars a month, and scrapping hefty tax breaks for major companies. Laura Tyson, a former chief economic adviser to president Bill Clinton who is now a counselor to Obama, said that "McCain has said his professor and mentor is Alan Greenspan."

3. Probably not, but it doesn't matter. Like Vikings we'll put our back into it & row against....
DEMS know it's never going to be fair. So if the tide is against us, we just get more people on the oars and get our base fired up with OUTRAGE and PASSION for the America WE CAN HAVE if Obama wins.

We're pointing out (with Hollywood sized spotlights) that CHANGE isn't about "changing the rules in the middle so you can win without bringing anything worthwhile to the game".

CHANGE is about HONESTLY bringing some good plans to the people and getting 'er done. McCain CAN'T DO EITHER, so he should just sit the next 4 years out.

10. McC only knows how to change/reform his image.
He was Keating, then a "reformer" to fix that corruption image, and now back to Keating.

He's all-out for lobbyists and ripping us off, just like in the Keating era. "Bad McC" is back! And Palin's his mini-me. The lies are the proof, and the lobbyists and Gramm in his camp.

S&L Crisis II, here we come. Only Obama is in a position to stop them. One guy, and nobody else. One chance, right now. Later, we'll be in the "hurricane". Too late.

5. How will John McCain pay for his tax cuts to the richest of the rich?
Will he cut cut cut cut cut the budgets in various states to the poorest of the poor? Will the prices of groceries go up even more? Will the heating bills go up even more? Will the gas prices go up even more? Will public education be cut even more? Will the middle class be etched into non existence? Will more banks be closing? Will more jobs go overseas? Will the richest of the rich have us standing in line for food? Clothing? Necessities?

No thanks John McSame, No thanks!

6. McCain is flumoxed to explain any of his claims...
...he has chosen a slippery slope by getting involved with Rove, who is waging a desperate campaign to keep his own ass out of prison.
