MALDEF Sues to Throw Out Anti Illegal Immigrant Ordinance

A Latino rights group has again field a federal lawsuit seeking to overturn the latest attempt to crack down on illegal immigration in the Dallas suburb of Farmers Branch, 1200 WOAI news reports.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund says a new law which took effect last week requires renters to obtain a 'renter's license.'

Obtaining a 'renter's license' requires a $5 feet, as well as providing 'proof of legal residency' in the United States.

"Anyone with a sense of history should be wary of an ordinance requiring a city's residents to register and obtain an occupancy license," said Lisa Graybill of the ACLU of Texas.

I have beautiful feet. Maybe mine should be 10$. Haha.

But seriously, I'm not necessarily against this although I am curious what type of documents would be expected. Seems like any effort to curb illegal immigration goes nowhere. Guess those real estate developers have a lot of sway in order to keep things nice and lax.
