Bush: Ike put 'pinch' on consumers
Source: AP

WASHINGTON --
President Bush warned Monday that people will face a "pinch" because of Hurricane Ike's disruption of energy production, as many consumers already grappling with the high price of gasoline have seen costs soar since the storm made landfall.

Bush said the hurricane's toll on refineries and pipelines is creating"an upward pressure on price" for people at the gas pump.

"There's going to be a pinch," Bush said after a briefing on hurricane recovery efforts. "I wish it wasn't the case, but it is."

The president also said, though, that people should not be subjected to price gouging. The federal government is working with state leaders to monitor whether consumers are being charged unfairly high prices during the disruption in the energy supply.

1. Yes, I'm sure Ike is responsible for the sub prime mortgage collapse
that started a year ago.

These hurricanes are like wormholes; they can affect the past...

4. The first thing these ass-hats think about....
Is how natural disasters are going to affect consumers... because they need the steady flow of a consumer's money. Never mind that "consumers" lost their homes, livelihoods and lives... Never mind that a consumer is a citizen before that, and a human being first of all. These jerks are just worried about who's going to buy the crap they're selling.

7. EXACTLY
That is how they see us..not a individual American citizen... but as as "consumers"

Ever wonder what would happen if the consumers STOPPED consuming anything but what is needed for life?

I wonder if they would start to see us as "citizens "

6. Bullshit. A hurricane doesn't do that. BIG OIL does that.
Big Oil and greedy gas station owners are responsible for high gas prices in the aftermath of Ike. As much as I despise Florida Gov. Crist, I have to give him credit for clamping down hard on gas gouging.

10. Yes, oil prices tripled since he came into office, but Ike is going to cause 'a pinch'.
The most I've heard is $5/gallon in hurricane impacted areas. The price tripling is nothing to worry about, but an extra 20% because of a hurricane, THAT is a cause for concern.

15. If I was within reach of that dumbass.....
when he said that I'd give him a pinch somewhere on his anatomy with a pair of needlenose pliers. Then when he started moaning I'd say, "Hey, sissy boy, it's just a little "pinch".

I can't wait until I never have to look at his ugly person again.
