NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) - Raleigh in North Carolina has been voted the most political city in the United States -- ahead of Washington D.C. and New York City, according to a new ranking.

Montgomery, Alabama, came in at No. 2 in the 100 most political cities, followed by Little Rock, Cleveland and Kansas City.

Greensboro in North Carolina, Des Moines, Milwaukee, Portland and Pittsburgh, rounded the top 10 in the ranking by Men's Health magazine.

....

The bottom five cities included Yonkers in New York, Norfolk, Virginia, Modesto, California and three Texas cities -- Arlington, El Paso and Lubbock.

You don't say!

/Jon Stewart ;-)

The article does mention methodology, but I didn't have room in the four-paragraph allotment.

1. Fastest growing small city too.
If they counted small towns, I bet Chapel Hill would be at the top! :hi:

4. and most rightwingnut neighbors are Yankee transplants; the progressives are the natives
so much for the Bull Connor stereotypes.

6. That's what a lot of nonNCers
don't understand about NC.

It's the imported wingnuts now, moreso than the native ones we are related to.

9. Maybe the yankee transplants, but...
Those of us transplants who just came north to the Carolinas are still part of the progressives!!!

7. hehe, props to Raleighwood
and I'd like to echo the sentiment that many of the Right wing nuts are the imported variety, they tend to reside in N. Raleigh or Cary.

10. What about Durham?
"Men's Health magazine used information for its ranking on the percentage of citizens registered to vote, percentage who participated, campaign spending in each city since 2006 and contributions by residents to the 2008 U.S. presidential race."

We must be ahead of Raleigh on some of these. Anyway, kudos to you folks over there to the east of our airport.

It's simply not true that all the wingnuts are imported yankees. I hate to mention it, but we did give the Senate someone from Monroe who was pretty wingnutty. Thank God it's not Jesse Helms' North Carolina any more!
