Palin Talks Up "Ohio-Alaskan Connection" in Swing State
Source:

CANTON, Ohio--In her first solo fundraiser as the GOP vice presidential nominee, Sarah Palin made much of what she calls "that Ohio-Alaskan connection."

She noted that her seven-year old daughter Piper "was wearing her Ohio State cheerleading outfit" as she bounded down the stairs to welcome her home last week. She boasted that she has taken a tough line against predators (approving the shooting of wolves from helicopters), just like Ohioans target coyotes. "It's a pretty darn controversial thing up in Alaska, but you've gotta do what you've gotta do!" she declared. ...

... "There Ohio was right out in front, right in front of me. The teleprompter got messed up, I couldn't follow it, and I just decided I'd just talk to the people in front of me," she said, referring to the minor technical malfunction she faced. "It was Ohio."

Palin focused most of her remarks on praising John McCain, saying the fact that she and her family members have operated small businesses gave her "an incentive to join John McCain in shakin' things up in Washington and doing some things for small business." ...

29. I can't believe that assh--- is keeping the wolf-slaughter story alive
She should try to lie or hide from it because it could kill her chances.

As good as any reason to vote for her.

She can see Alaska = foreign policy expert.

She sees Ohio delegates from stage = Ohio supporter

Daughter wears Ohio cheerleader outfit = Ohio supporter

It's funny that McCain used Paris Hilton in his ad. Even Paris is smarter than Palin. What a total airhead.

8. And just where did that OSU cheerleader costume come from?
Sarah bought her one from every state, but probably not one that has alot of minorities. I don't think Sarah goes to those kind of places.

Oh, and she has one from Russia too, just because it's so close.

An OSU cheerleading outfit??? :puke:

Maybe Caribou Barbie should focus her attention on the foreclosure crisis in Ohio ... how we have FOUR cities rated "the fastest dying cities" in the US ...

12. Where's the little ones rifle
Shouldn't she be out hunting? Sarah did at that age. Let's see some pictures of Sarah's girl taking down a Caribou.

Maybe alot of moms in the lower 48 couldn't relate, and that wouldn't work for Sarah's campaign image.

15. I was born and raised in Ohio and I'm here to tell DU
that Ohioans do not consider themselves to be sister states with Alaska unless things have changed drastically in recent years.

Oh, and the wolf thing? Coyotes eat sheep in Ohio so farmers shoot them. I don't think that there are very many sheep farmers in Alaska, and as far as I know they wolves being shot from helicopters (which no self-respecting hunter in Ohio would ever consider doing not to mention I'm sure its illegal) aren't bothering people.

17. As an Alaskan I can second that
I've got nothing against Ohio, besides Kenneth Blackwell and the 2004 election, but I have never heard of any connection between our states. We had our fair share of election issues in 2004 too though, so maybe there is some connection that all of us little people just don't know about.

19. Coyotes are targeted because they kill livestock and pets in Ohio. Wolves in Alaska kill wild
animals and help keep their populations healthy. For all her blabber, Sarah Palin doesn't know shit about the difference between wolves in Alaska and coyotes in Ohio.

20. The Palinistas want killing moose to be as easy as livestock
Her fish and game board is made up of people who make their living taking other people out to hunt. They want as many animals to shoot as possible so they can make more money. So to them, there is no difference.

25. Bullpucky! They hunt Coyotes up here too but do it in the "fair" way...
where they track on ground and shoot from the ground... maybe a tree stand. Personally I find the idea abhorrent unless they're a REAL problem with livestock, etc. Most coyotes up here in NNY are small game like rodents, rabbits, etc.

IME any hunter worth their salt doesn't "hunt" from a plane... it's too much like using dynamite to fish or shooting fish in a barrel.

28. As a Michigan fan, yet another reason to dislike Palin.
OF course, I'm sure her daughter has several outfits....

Unbelievable. People can't see through this woman?

C'mon Ohio, WAKE THE FUCK UP. Your Republican leaders have lied and led your state into the toilet, yet, you voted for the idiot (kind of, with some fraud thrown in) in 04. Don't make the same mistake in 08. This one would hurt you MUCH more.
