Adviser claims that McCain, who doesn't use a computer or e-mail, helped create the BlackBerry
Source: AP

MIAMI (AP) _ Move over, Al Gore. You may lay claim to the Internet, but John McCain helped create the BlackBerry.

At least that's the contention of a top McCain policy adviser, Douglas Holtz-Eakin. Waving his BlackBerry personal digital assistant and citing McCain's work as a senator, he told reporters Tuesday, "You're looking at the miracle that John McCain helped create."

McCain has acknowledged that he doesn't know how to use a computer and can't send e-mail, one of the BlackBerry's prime functions.

Holtz-Eakin's argument is similar to one advanced by Gore, the Democratic presidential nominee in 2000. Gore once boasted about "taking the initiative to create the Internet" through technological and educational policies. He later was mocked for claiming to have invented the Internet, although he never made such a claim. ...

7. Obama shouldn´t touch that. They are setting him up.
McCain didn´t say it so it will give him a chance to clarify the statement and then brag that even though he is not a geek, he has always supported the advancement of technology and will continue to do so. This will take the steam out of the fact that his is tech illiterate.

31. The guy who actually did invent the Blackberry
sued that company and won millions. Jim Slattery, who is running for Senate in Kansas (against Pat Roberts) is an attorney who represented the guy. It's actually an interesting story and Slattery is telling it as he campaigns because Pat Roberts is accusing him of being an evil trial lawyer.

29. WRONG GORE QUOTE: "in creating" not invented, not to create.
Gore's words "in creating" mean during the creation,
not beginning the creation as in inventing,
not to create as in to create before it was created.

Gore was saying he worked on the Internet while it was being created, which he did, and did well.

Research in motion. The company was founded in 1984. McCain's advisor has been hitting the happy weed again I think.
