GOP mocks Biden 'tax cuts for toasters'
Source: Politico

Sen. Joe Biden (D-Del.) said on NBC’s “Today” show: “Our tax plan would take that tax cut of another $130 billion that John wants to give to people making over $250,000 next year, not let it go forward and give it to the middle class — the very people who desperately need it to stay in their homes, to buy food, to take care of the gas, to fill up their tank, to be able to go out and buy a toaster, to employ people.”

The McCain campaign’s Joe Pounder (“his real name,” as The New Yorker recently put it) crowed in his morning e-mail to reporters: “id you catch Joe Biden saying this morning that their tax cut will allow Americans to buy a ‘toaster’? Nothing says a sound economic plan like ‘buying a toaster.’” ...

3. Right. So many more Americans relate to buying that 7th house
than buying a toaster.

Edited on Tue Sep-16-08 01:24 PM by liberalmuse
Toasters are for the "little people". I know they'd find it impossible to believe, but for some Americans, if your toaster breaks, you don't have toast unless you throw it on an oven rack. For people who can afford $120,000 or more in clothing and stupid accessories, I guess not being able to afford $15 is incomprehensible. Only an elitist, out-of-touch prick would make a sneering remark over that. Fuck these pigs.

22. Why does the news media keep skipping over McSame's lies
They attack Obama 24/7 on McCain lies and propaganda to keep
the story going , while not saying a word about McSame's
BullS...
I forgot for a second because that is their job , because they
are brought by the corporate-republican machine.
Kills me the way the news media will state that both Obama and
McCain need to stop telling their stories and talk on the
issues.
I thought Obama has tried , but has only been able to talk
some because the news media keeps attacking him on McCain's
lies...

28. No kidding! I'd love to have a toaster!
Mine broke a year ago, and I haven't gotten a new one. Now I've moved into a smaller apartment, and the kitchen is so tiny there wouldn't be space for one if I could buy one! I miss a nice piece of toast. Tossing bread in a hot pan doesn't taste the same.

11. Would be an interesting project to see where all the household appliance manufacturing is located in
the US.

I'm sure workers would be pleased to know that encouraging domestic consumption of household appliances is considered funny by the fat cats who run McCain's campaign.

21. Seems like just about every news source always tips the scales
IN favor of McCain and the republicans. Just what
information do these attack Obama sources have (we are not
talking about their own Bs , which is not from facts but
fiction) to verify Obama has voted for the programs of Bush
which has cut the over site on financial institutions and have
shipped our jobs overseas.
Fact is Fox news media keeps bitching over and over about the
picture of McSame where the lighting was to light on his
picture.. Yet ,,it is never brought up about their racial
pictures of Obama shown at their "Family Value"
republican meeting..

Lou Dodds which acts as if he is an independent when attacking
Obama and the democrat on his CNN news show what there. Lou
Dodds the democrat independent-republican brought his whole
family there to speak at the republican family value meeting ,
and watch the attack on Obama in a racist fashion.

McSame and the republicans just keep getting by with telling
deceitful lies , Even after their lying BS and propaganda has
been proven to be lies they proudly and arrogantly wave their
flag and keep telling their BS...

29. Isn't a toaster a classic symbol too?
from the bank, for a wedding gift, your classic old fashioned symbol of middle class America? I'm in my 30s but I remember that, or am I just nuts?
