Senate Ethics Approves Craig's Request To Form Legal Expense Fund

Sen. Larry E. Craig said Thursday that the Senate Ethics Committee has approved his request to form a legal expense fund to help pay the costs associated with his effort to withdraw his guilty plea on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.

Craig's legal expense fund, called Fund for Justice, is disclosed in papers filed with the Senate's Office of Public Records ...

In February, the Ethics Committee chided Craig for spending $213,000 in campaign funds to pay legal and public-relations fees without approval from either the Ethics Committee or the Federal Election Commission.

The first peek at who is donating to the fund and how much they have given will come Oct. 15, when Craig will be required to file his first quarterly report detailing the fund's activity ...
