Clinton Unveils New Pro-Obama Effort
Source: Huffington Post

MINNEAPOLIS — Hillary Rodham Clinton stepped up her efforts Friday to swing her supporters behind Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, her former rival for the nomination.

In an outreach dubbed "Hillary Sent Me," the New York senator invited her primary-season partisans to get involved directly in Obama's campaign and to donate to it. As part of that, she urged them to travel to a specific battleground state each weekend, beginning with New Hampshire on Sept. 27, when she will be campaigning for Obama in Michigan.

"Today I am asking all of you to stand up with me, to hit the road and spread the word that we must elect Barack Obama president and send a Democratic, filibuster-proof majority to Congress," Clinton told supporters in a conference call Friday. "This is a call to action, a must-do. We all have a role. And there is not a moment to lose."

Starting Saturday, Clinton's political Web site will offer backers information about Democratic campaign events and grassroots efforts. . .

Cool. "Hillary Sent Me." I like it.

Of course, it will matter not at all to the PUMAs, but it could matter a great deal to sentient beings.

1. You just don't get it, do you!
There are no PUMAS. Only repukes that claim to be Hillary supporters.

How long are you gonna keep the hostilities flaring? Let it go, for crap's sake!

27. And even more amazing was the non-coverage of Ron Paul's shadow convention -

10,000 in attendance might have been more than the actual RNC attendance.

The PUMA story was another projection of their problems onto us.

29. Of course there were. Denial doesn't change it.
Edited on Sat Sep-20-08 07:27 PM by Zhade
At the same time, there was Operation Chaos voting her up in the primaries and fueling the PUMA thing after she dropped out.

7. You're welcome. I liked it, too.
I meant it to be positive. Some didn't take it that way. Don't understand how defensive some people are about the PUMAs. They exist, and they are insane, and Hillary wants nothing to do with those nutcases.

But to say they are all Republicans is to deny reality. They are, however, nuts. Bottom line, though, is that I love Hillary's new slogan, and good for her.

8. Party Unity My A$$
Most around here believe they are Republicans pretending to be ex-Hillary supporters voting for McCain. A few still believe that actual Hillary supporters reject party unity, and won't vote for Obama.

21. And at least one (me) believe some of them are Dems who can't
bring themselves to vote for a black man.

Racism runs deep and, yes, there are some in the Democratic party. Rothschild is a good example.

10. This is good, but ...
I read that Rothschild woman who just endorsed Clinton never received a phone call from Hillary. Hillary has to get on the phone and call people. Fair or not, Hillary will be held accountable if her key supporters continue to defect to McCain.

11. Hillary wasn't going to convince that brain-dead elitist.
And no, it's not fair to hold Hillary responsible for Lady de Rothschild. The "Lady" is a sad joke with too much money and very little brains. Like much of "royalty."

16. Even an orange runs out of juice if you squeeze hard enough!
I swear! No 2nd place primary contender has ever been asked to do what Hillary is being asked to do. And the more she does, the more is asked of her. She LOST, dammit! Why doesn't she get to move on with life? Why is she still REQUIRED to answer the phone at 3am?

And I'm starting to think that this may be a gender thing. Would any man who lost in the primaries be pressured into going around the country begging his supporters to vote and volunteer for the winning candidate? And would they have to do nearly as much stumping as the actual candidate? I DON'T THINK SO!!!

Senator Clinton is doing more than enough, and more than she "owes". The constant pressure on her is beginning to seem like a personal vendetta that people have against her for staying in the race.

All I can say is I hope this is a chip that she can cash in on if Obama wins. He will owe her in a big way.

25. no vendetta, i'm sorry
Because she took on the historic role of a representative of women's enpowerment, she is in this election as a force however she wants to play it - in or out she represents somethng for better or worse, and it might as well be the better. There are issues at stake.

She's a player in this, not some typical number two runner who's a trivia question long before the convention (ten years from now, will anyone remember who ran number two against McSame?) - totally apart from the gender significance of her campaign, nobody under the age of 100 can remember someone coming so close to a nomination without getting it - and what that means in terms of supporters' dreams. She has large constituencies that look to her for leadership, because of that she has responsibilities that a more generic also-ran would not.

It is good to see she knows what must be done. And yes, it takes class to work for what will be a win for us all but not hers specifically.

15. Since PUMA strategy was to vote McCain for a 2nd bite at the HRC apple in '12...
I would think Palin & the possibility that a Palin candidacy for the GOP nomination in '12 would dissuade them from voting McCain.

The PUMAs are like the Borg. They can't be redeemed.

But this may matter to those who actually think.

19. And how many of the PUMA's supported McCain to begin with, but pretended...
to support Hillary so that in the end they could say "I voted for Hillary in the primary (which is true) and now am supporting McCain?" I mean how obvious could it be that many of the PUMA's do this...many others are out of touch with the issues and were supporting a character, not a cause.

28. "to swing her supporters" - uh, any that are still hers and NOT Obama's are probably lost.
Lost to us, and lost to reality.

My assumption - and maybe it's crazy - is that the vaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaast majority of her former primary supporters already support Obama. Am I wrong?
